Yautja “Predlocks.”
These are hair or some vestigial tentacles or what are these things?
Like do they feel pain, can the owner control them, if you cut them do they grow back.

They are sensory organs. I don’t know if they grow back, I doubt it though.
So they are some kinda dangley jangley whiskers/antennae?
Interesting, thanks!
They may actually grow back, as they clearly grow with the Predator. But I’m quite certain that they are a type of sensory organ. Now their use is something I don’t know for certain
Its also a debate. Some comics have them being able to be cut and nothing happens, others have them filled with blood and flesh.
While your assumption was also my first assumption about them I think alternatively they could be for storing and shedding heat, as Pred’s are essentially cold blooded.
This gives them a way to store environmentally warmed blood for circulation around their brains.
I mean my arms grow with me but they don’t grow back lol
After the EU reboot the Hunters series actually presents them as being able to bleed. The Predator also at least for the dogs speculates it’s a sort of sensory organ.
Predators don’t have noses, so I’ve always assumed they might be used for sensing smells. I don’t know. Whatever their function is, they can be cut off and predators seem to be okay without them.
While I haven’t read Machiko’s Hunters Planet, my Cousin was into the Books and mentioned that Braiding their Dreadlocks was part of the Yautja’s Induction Process. I.E. it was crazy painful. And if you flinched at all, progress was undone and started all over again.
I seriously need to give Hunters Planet a read as it’s just sitting there @Draedark.
Love the Evil Dead Avatar by the way.
Lizards grow back their tails. It’s an appendage and they’re reptilian. I also do not remember there every being a Predator on record having missing dreds that haven’t been experimented on by humans.
I mean fair point but they aren’t lizards haha
They have scales and have been shown to more than likely be cold blooded like reptiles. So they fall into that category
Ok they 100% are not lizards Hahahah like without even explaining. Just because duh. They are aliens. That’s like saying because xenomorphs are slimy they fall into the worm category
I never claimed they were lizards. I’m sorry you couldn’t read between the lines. They hold a striking resemblance in terms of scales and their lack of ability to control their temperature. So why couldn’t they grow back their dreds? At least my observations have a little backing, not just simply arguing against it.
They don’t have scales
Idek i can help you here my friend. The predlocks (scencory organ) is for detecting movement and heat signitures. They do grow from the predator and could possibly if they act like whiskers. The mandibles in the front of their mouths is similar it has be theroised that they use them when they wear there bio masks to see different heat signitures aswell and sound.
The heads remind me of some kind of cephalopod, but with the tentacles on the back.
The mouths like arthropods, in where there are basically little grasping appendages that can work food into the actual chewing part.
So some kind of soft bodied space crustacean. An octo-crab if you will.
Can the heads live on with out the body? Because if they could use those whiskers to move around they certainly looks like they would not need one!
Warning: safe for work but not for the squeamish.
