Refunding. Ultrawide missing + Early acces feeling

Hi! :)
I would like to make this post before I make my refund and see if these issues can get addressed in the future so I can come back to it.

1 - Ultrawide is missing:
Capital mistake and the main reason of the refund. I can’t keep a game that simply does not work
with my monitor. Something like aspect ratio options should not be an issue on a 2020 launch. Even
for a small dev.

2 - Feels early access. Not worth 40€/$:
A 15 minutes game loop. That’s what the game offers.
No game modes. No competitive (elo/ranking).
Which is the point? Level up the predator and unlock some weapons that should be unlocked from
minute 0? But they are not because the game is so lacking in content they had to made them
achievements.

Summing up… More content or half the prize:
The game looks good, feels good and it is true to the Predator saga (+1 to Gryffindor).
But it is either more content or half the prize. This is not a 40 dollar game. Sorry.

This said I do understand that videogame market is a bi***.
It is a small developer. They may have not had the funds to keep the development for another 1 and a half year to launch the game in good conditions but instead approach an (overpriced) early launch where hopefully they will get the funds needed to finish it.
So I don´t think they are trying to rip anyone off. The game is unfinished but I thin it was an internal decision to make the game possible.
All in all buy the game if you enjoy it and want to support the developer. But it is basically that. You buy it and assume you are an early adopter of something that can get good or not.
For me the deal breaker was no support for my monitor. No aspect ratio options in 2020 is a no for me. That is implemented with some clicks in the .ini files. Can´t let that pass.

I have an ultrawide and it works for me. I don’t understand the issue you’re having.

Cant blame you. Hope they make enough changes to warrant the price and for players to return.

They don’t even have rebinding of keys which even the oldest PC games have.

The game is “vert-” mate
This is technical but I will try to resume it so you understand:
Ultrawide is an aspect ratio that aims to add content to the sides of the screen. But maintaining the amount of image (information) that is shown in a 16:9 ratio. So you will get the same image you get in a normal monitor BUT with the addition of the sides. This is the theory on how a 21:9 monitor should work.
Now if you do not implement aspect ratios in your game this results in the image getting “ZOOMED IN” so you fill your monitor but you loose image up and down your screen. Basically you get the native 16:9 image and you “stretch” it like a gum to cover everything.
So you are not only not getting more of the world surrounding you displayed. You are actually getting LESS that if you would play in a normal 16:9 monitor.
This is called (vert-). Which means that you are loosing image vertically.
In the menus is specially noticeable when you can’t even see the full models of the predator and the marines when customizing them. It’s horrible xD
But the worst worst is that this is implemented with a simple “.ini” file change. Unforgivable.

That explains the chopped off head of the predator in the customization screen. This doesn’t really bother me since I still find the game fun. But it’s perfectly ok if you want to get a refund. To each his own. Be safe out there.

A small developer yes, but the franchise is owned by 20th Century Fox. They get final say on everything.

The refund is a sum of factors.
But in my modest opinion we should not get conformed when a game shows “lazy” implementation (and this is not the best example out there, it’s just one).
We are not talking about maps or content here. It is a simple internal code implementation that would take minutes to a dev.
I won’t go all political that we should demand something better as a 21:9 community. But actually we should all get more demanding as a community in general, with everything.

That isn’t a position I’m wanting to take with this game. If they can’t polish the game and create more content then that’s something to be concerned about. But the UW issue, that’s a bit trivial for my tastes.

But you at least understand the logic that demand more content not knowing the internal development process (some of them are just a hell to go through) could be a bit unfair with Illfonic. A small dev. team trying their best.
But to ask for simple little things that can make big differences is actually a legit complain because is not justifiable from their part.

Not once have I said you have no right to complain. All I’ve said is that your issue with the UW isn’t my issue. You’re perfectly within your right to request a refund and play another game. I hope you get your refund.

You don’t have to hope for me or approve my thoughts. Those are a given.
But you are actually trying to counter my arguments as if posting here with my concerns threaten the decisions you have taken :D
Which shows that you are just trying to justify the buy for yourself. I think the line here is that it’s me who is hoping you are comfortable with your buy. Have a good day :D

No. I was trying to answer to people that entered here to share their thoughts and maybe look at differences wisely as consumers with less degree of fanatism. But I see, sorry, that you are not up to the task.
