Reinforcement respawns are a buzzkill

Here’s my thoughts on this topic.

Get rid of respawns and…get rid of quick claims.

The whole point of the Predator is to whittle the team down before they can accomplish objectives and escape. What’s the point when way too often do you take one or two fireteam out just to have to deal with them again a few minutes later even after a quick claim, which in turns removes the fun and fear of the hunt.

This is the primary reason most people choose to melee bum rush because you can take the whole team out before they have a chance to respawn. This is not a proper gameplay loop. It completely negates any stalking and slow methodical removal of fireteam players.

My thoughts are to tweak the long claim mechanic to make it more of a reward and permanently remove a player from the fireteam and get rid of the quick claims and respawns. The long claim needs to leave you vulnerable and should be canceled by gunfire, making it difficult to do if the team is around. This would be beneficial to the teamwork aspect of the fireteam as well. Would require tight teamwork to stay in the game. Those that wander get claimed. Removing the respawns and short claim would bring a sense of fear and tension, and would slow things down a bit. Of course the fireteam player can still die if being downed too many times.

Now for the people that get claimed or killed, either they can quit and collect their xp to that point, watch the rest of the match and gain extra xp if the fireteam extracts, or possibly take control of a low level grunt with a pistol just to run around and collect cash.

I’d really like to know what others think of this.

i agree with the respawn point. you only have 15 minutes to kill them all and they can respawn. it makes me rush in when i dont want to. i would totally change the way i play if they couldnt come back. 15 minutes isnt a lot of time to kill more than 4 people if they can come back.

If the respawn mechanic was removed, then the short claim would have to be removed also. The short claim only works because of the respawn mechanic, and in my opinion is totally immersion breaking when you remove the same guys head multiple times in a match. It should be exciting and difficult to claim a trophy during a match, not like picking a penny up off the ground.

exactly. how you gonna come back to life when the mf has your spine in its back pocket.

I find myself agreeing slightly with your Respawn point, but further handicapping a Predator for Long Claiming is not exactly recommended. He is already vulnerable anyway by being a sitting duck if he is found, the disadvantage of it being canceled by gunfire is too much to really consider Long Claiming in the first place.

It doesn’t make sense for the Predator to continue to rip a dudes skull out while being shot at the same time. It should definitely cancel the animation. Trophies should be exactly that…a trophy. It shouldn’t be easy, it should only happen occasionally. Or when you’re skilled enough. Risk vs reward.

totally agree i just had game i killed 3 and they respawned just as i got to the last guy and they spawned in on my location surrounded by all of them… i was low on health had healed during the match so no more heals. it was really bullshit. remove quickies and reinforcements fully agree. you cant hunt and pick them off you gotta rush rush rush all the time. why?

I know I have brought it up before, but the same thing happened with AVP (2010). Game Mechanics are almost always going to rule out most other things to make a fair and consistent experience. Especially with a movie based game.

Yup. Can’t stand the rushing game. Id really like to see this game slow down and be a little more serious about the gameplay flow. Truth be told, the people that constantly rush will get bored of this game soon because there’s not much for them here because they’re not in it for the Predator experience. They’ll move back to CoD and Fortnite in no time. Then we’ll have some real fun.

I think they should also remove the perk that lets you get downed twice. There’s no point in chipping away at their health if they have a huge supply of heals and a second life on top of that

I don’t know about that. If respawns are removed then I think the perk is fair. It still needs to balance out.
