Here’s my thoughts on this topic.
Get rid of respawns and…get rid of quick claims.
The whole point of the Predator is to whittle the team down before they can accomplish objectives and escape. What’s the point when way too often do you take one or two fireteam out just to have to deal with them again a few minutes later even after a quick claim, which in turns removes the fun and fear of the hunt.
This is the primary reason most people choose to melee bum rush because you can take the whole team out before they have a chance to respawn. This is not a proper gameplay loop. It completely negates any stalking and slow methodical removal of fireteam players.
My thoughts are to tweak the long claim mechanic to make it more of a reward and permanently remove a player from the fireteam and get rid of the quick claims and respawns. The long claim needs to leave you vulnerable and should be canceled by gunfire, making it difficult to do if the team is around. This would be beneficial to the teamwork aspect of the fireteam as well. Would require tight teamwork to stay in the game. Those that wander get claimed. Removing the respawns and short claim would bring a sense of fear and tension, and would slow things down a bit. Of course the fireteam player can still die if being downed too many times.
Now for the people that get claimed or killed, either they can quit and collect their xp to that point, watch the rest of the match and gain extra xp if the fireteam extracts, or possibly take control of a low level grunt with a pistol just to run around and collect cash.
I’d really like to know what others think of this.
