Soo, The first season is now finished. For someone who loves Tolkiens work and have read close to everything he published i was very hyped for this series. I know it has gotten alot of hate but i loved it. For you guys who finished s01. Thoughts?
Rings Of Power Season Finale
As someone who isnāt the biggest Tolkien/LoTR fan and not so knowledgeable of it, would you say it is a faithful and worthy addition to the series?
I would say so. Not much is written bout the second age do they do be filling some gaps in. The time compression is the one thing thar bugs me but except from that i like it very much and i see tons of references to both books and films in this series
Its a travesty of a show, regardless of the franchise theyāre leaching off of. Its an insult to Tolkien directly, and as something to be watched, a disgrace to what Peter Jackson has done.
What do you mean a ālot of hate?ā Of course it dose! With good reason! And what do you mean ānot alot writing about the second age?!ā HELLO THE APPENDIXS AND UNFINISHED TALES OF MIDDLE EARTH, NOT JUST TO MENTION THE LONG 12 VOLUMES OF HISTORY OF MIDDLE EARTH! WHICH THEY DIDNT TAKE ANY REFERENCES AT ALL SO WHAT REFERENCES ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?! THEY BUTCHERED TOLKIENS WORK AND WHEN THE REVIEWS TANK THEY BLAMED THE FANS?! Lol š here educate yourself then come by and tell me you still think itās a great show HELL ITS NOT EVEN A GOOD FAN FICTION LOL! š
I heard it was tripe , box ticking sewage . Thats maybe just me though š
You wouldnāt be wrong my dear friend
You seem like that general dude who knows nothing bout the lore but watched a video or 2 to jump the hate bandwagon. If you knew something youād know second age is some of the least written bout and is very open for new things. You seem like the guy who hates that thry changed something in the series but looks the other way of Glorfindel being completly written out and swapped for Arwen in peter jacksons trilogy. All i wanted was an open Dialouge of the show. If i wanted some raged baboon who only wanted to copy paste what he heard of some youtube channef id simply just put the series title into youtube. God bless
And can i take a youtuber serious when all his videos are thumbnails with poorly photoshopped images to clickbait 10 year olds to watch him scream for 10mins.its all for thst youtube money bro, hate gets views. I can like something even tho media tries to tell me otherwise. Instead of attacking me you could have asked how come i enjoy it or whatever. But you just wanted to start a boring cyberwar in this dead forum. Is this twitter? I hoped not.
And sorry for spam-typing here. But litterly every adaptation gets a pass like Harry potter is hugely diffrent from the books. Game of thrones is also hugley diffrent. Nobody ever nags about that. Even our precious LotR of which i love dearly takes massive liberties. Scourting of shire Which had huge meaning to Tolkien was cut completly. This had a huge impact on Tolkien cuz it was to show how the industry started to corrupt and destroy our world which he hated and Shire was like the nice parts of England that was left. And the scourching of shire was to represent that even when you come back from saving the world all you loved can still be taken from you whilst you werent there. Peter just entirely through that out the window. Or that he cut Tom bombadil and Glorfindel completly. Or changed the entire personality of Aragorn going from someone ready to be king since book 1 when he gets Anduril to a guy who doesnt want the crown and risent the thrown until he is basically forced to take it. Every show and movie based on someones work is altered. Thats why its called an adaptation. If we gonna cherry pick which show/movie to hate on for not being faithful then why do it at all, or why not to everyone then? You say they butchered his work. Well isnt Removing Schourching of shire completely also butchering his work? I will have you know that Christoffer, Tolkiens son who handled the Tolkien estate for years hated Peters films and said his father would off too. So obviously Tolkien themselfs think Peter Jacksons trilogy is an awful adaptation, and thats coming from the flesh and blood of those who wrote it/handled it. Still i and tons of people around the world love his films. Movies/series can be good even though they arent completly faithful, no adaptation is.
Can I ask why you think its good? Your enjoyment isnāt something we can discuss. But how you can possibly believe this poorly thrown together trash is well made is something we can.
sure man. let me just say there is people out there who enjoyed the final season of game of thrones. Need i say anything more?
Yeah, explaining why you think its well made. Consumers enjoy anything new, so its not even worth talking about.
Consumers enjoy anything new? Since when is that statement true. Did consumer enjoy last season of GoT when it was new and fresh? Did people enjoy Prequals or Sequals when that was new? That statement is silly and false
Avoiding the actual question still?
But the answer is yes. As you just said, people did. Prequels were loved until years went by, and still are loved. Sequels soured far quicker for people but were loved as they came out. These are just facts.
lol they were not loved when they first came out what are you talking bout? And i could tell you i loved the music, the work done by WETA, Everything in regards to Elrond & Durin, The call backs to the movies, The use of Real actors in make up for the orcs etc etc. Why does it matter? I can sense that you are just gonna be toxic bout it. Which is fine, but im not gonna stick around here for it. God bless
All that is fine, but Iām asking what was well made about it.
I can tell you how much I loved Face Off. Iām not going to defend the movie, its not good. I could go on about what I enjoyed about Prey, and thatās a 4/10. I could talk about what I liked about the Prequels if you want, that doesnāt make them good.
The point here is telling someone what you enjoyed about something isnāt a discussion. Its two separate posts and thatās it.
They go hand in hand. 1st off. I never said it was well made. 2nd off. having a good score with good actors playing off of each other well aka durin and Elrond is two points that goes towards making a well made series. Also, good set peices and art direction and costume design is another thing making it well made. Having LotR balrog be a man in a tiger suit would make the movie lesser then it turned out. All the things i said i enjoyed are also things that could be argued for it being well made.
They absolutely do not go hand in hand. People love āThe Roomā because of how terrible its made.
Second off, those two are not playing off each other well at all. Durin is constantly walked over and ignored, several things the dwarfs state in this show are just completely ignored, and Durin acts a buffoon. Music is fine, most of the actors are trying despite the pile of excrement the script is. The sets are nice, but the costumes are awful. Not just medieval wise, but with the budget they have, Iād expect them to not look crayon drawn on rubber. I donāt know why you brought up the Balrog like that. Iāve nothing against CGI and point at the FotR for proof.
And while you can point at things that are well made and say thatās why you enjoyed something, enjoying something does not make it well made. Its why there is a distinction.
Durin and Elrond did play well of each other. Thats my opinion. And well made, cgi was well made. Sets were well made. Music was well made, practical effects were made well, costumes were well made, maybe you didnt like the look of em, but they were still well made. Those are some of the things that cant be denied. Love it hste it but some of the scenes akd compositing is insane in this series. The shots between the stranger and Nori for example. And they basically had every big effects studio working on this including weta.
