Yea I do not quite understand the need for you to loose it if you do not escape/kill the predator. The drop rates for them are so low to begin with and then you have to deal with the fact that you can just loose it if you die.
I think you will like them though if you are interested in the lore building theres quite a lot there.
I found my 1st one after getting the trophy for 100 FT games. I was pretty disappointed to see that it wasn’t there after the match, because i died. LAME! I’m already down to just a few matches a day. RIP, i guess.
It really does suck, i’m not sure what happened, but the pred left the game, and i found the tape, but after the match, i went to listen to it and it just wasn’t there. still isn’t a day later.
another thing i noticed is that you keep collected veritanium after the match, but you don’t keep the tapes, even though every time i’ve been reinforced and found my body, there is a pile of veritanium under it. it really just doesn’t make sense
I have yet to ever see one. Are they only in quickplay or can you be in private matches? Only FT can find them right? I have no idea how to get these.
I found it in quick play as FT. It was just laying on the ground. I thought it was an ammo pack until after i grabbed it.
Anyone know if they are quick play only? I mostly play private matches with people or solo.
Also if indeed FT only. A youtube video showed a pred getting it but that might have been beta. I didn’t remember all three stages being in beta though.
EDIT: i finally got 2 tonight lol. Both in Private Matches. 1 with Pred and 1 with FT. So yeah can get them anywhere with anyone I am just super unlucky, lol.

I love that. It gives you more incentive to escape alive and instills a sense of fear that you might lose your treasure.

This is a great mechanic - that after death, you lose everything that you found in the match. Then there is a desire to play as safe as possible.
Records are specially spawned rarely and are obtained only during victories. The content of the game needs to be smeared for a long time.
Otherwise, all whiners will receive everything on the first day and then they will whine that there is no content.
Just verified you can get OWLF tapes in private matches. As well as farm XP and VT.
