Self destruct sucks!

What’s the point of hunting if they just made the self destruct end games and you get 4 kills?

It isnt a mechanic meant for you to control?

The average gamer is going to find the mini game super challenging now. So you’re going to get wayyyyyyyy more people trying to defuse it and fail.

What else can they possibly do?

Maps and game modes are a given

I think the minigame is too easy to be honest, even after the last change, and the mechanic does not add the tension that it should to the moment.

I didn’t even stop to check if there is a fixed order of the symbols post patch, and I just have time to scroll each one until I find the correct and succeed.

Imo trying to defuse the bomb should imply more risk than it does, so you actually think about it twice before trying.

How to make this? Some ideas, feel free to add more.

  • If you enter a symbol incorrectly, bomb explodes. Adds true tension to the moment. You can’t make a mistake. A soft version of this is going back to the beginning of the puzzle if you make one mistake.

  • Randomized symbols. Each slot does not necessarily contain the same symbols as the others, and also changes in every game. So you actually have to manually search, and the puzzle feels new every time.

  • A soldier that tries to defuse the bomb and fails loses all rewards of the game. On the other hand, the player that defuses the bomb gets a significant reward. This makes choosing to defuse the bomb a high risk/ high reward decision.

What high reward? Some crappy XP that I have no use for?

Use your imagination. Good amount of veritanium, an exotic item…

If you make the rewards too great though the FT will abandon the missions entirely and only hunt the predator especially for a mythic item. Personally I’m fine with the defuse as is now, I used to be able to defuse the bomb pretty quickly but now I’m lucky if I’m able to defuse it at all. I’ve seen several of my teammates try and fail lately when prepatch it was unusual if anyone didn’t disarm.

Defusing is going to become routine again soon, I think.

If the purpose is to make the moment exciting, I feel the mechanic falls short as is.

Regarding the possible reward, a mythic item might be too much. An exotic one or a veritanium bonus would be good incentives but not too good to make them go for the hunt and ignore the mission.

What does it matter, YOU ARE DEAD! You’ve already lost the game. Diffuse is just a mini game for the fireteam, for some extra fun.

Randomization is a must imo to avoid this and make the puzzle interesting and different in the long term.

It’s not about forcing people to run every time, but to make it risky, exciting and rewarding enough to actually have to think about the decision of running or staying and betting all on the try.

by that i meaned that its already a routine and its not stress for FT player to defuse. Xd

What else you say, anybody can sleep walk to avoid the radius. Regarding “harder” with this update will have to see, just like to so called parry nerf, yeah right. There is absolutely nothing hard about this POS self-destruct. Utterly useless! They need to increase the radius, so there is actually a shred of a challenge.
