I think the minigame is too easy to be honest, even after the last change, and the mechanic does not add the tension that it should to the moment.
I didn’t even stop to check if there is a fixed order of the symbols post patch, and I just have time to scroll each one until I find the correct and succeed.
Imo trying to defuse the bomb should imply more risk than it does, so you actually think about it twice before trying.
How to make this? Some ideas, feel free to add more.

If you enter a symbol incorrectly, bomb explodes. Adds true tension to the moment. You can’t make a mistake. A soft version of this is going back to the beginning of the puzzle if you make one mistake.

Randomized symbols. Each slot does not necessarily contain the same symbols as the others, and also changes in every game. So you actually have to manually search, and the puzzle feels new every time.

A soldier that tries to defuse the bomb and fails loses all rewards of the game. On the other hand, the player that defuses the bomb gets a significant reward. This makes choosing to defuse the bomb a high risk/ high reward decision.
