Iāve been doing the jump/crouch tech since Halo 1 on original XBOX. This was over two decades ago. š
Itās just pretty sad we have to resort such outdated physics, and not semi-modern FPS mechanics like climb / vaulting.

Shooters were never designed to be played with controllers. They were born and shaped in PC for keyboard and mouse and developers have had to implement a myriad of tools in order to make it viable and work around the deficiencies of that type of input.
K&M works better for some type of games, controller for others. I would never play a fighting game with K&M, for example.
Is not about one being easier and the other harder, is about efficiency.
Bungie did try their damnedest to make it work when they were making Halo back on Xbox, because yeah every FPS on console previously suffered from the conversion. One could argue the OG Turok from the N64 era did just as good a job as Halo for the time period, especially compared to how horribly clunky fellow titles like Goldeneye and Perfect Dark (and sadly the Turok sequels) would become.
My ātrueā last console was the the N64. By the time the PS2 came out I had already been on PC for years. I still owned a GC, X360, PS2 and 3, Wii, but I used them for couch games, scrollers, fighting games and such. Never played any Halo on a console.
Even back with the N64, comparing Doom on PC and Doom64 with a controllerā¦ JFC that game was impossible to play on the N64 if you had played it on PC.
Iām not sure what made Turok what it was. I agree it is one of the few FPS titles on consoles that just worked, and is super weird because aiming is on the Left Thumb, rather than the usual right one we have now. Maybe they overhauled the aiming system taking into account that most people would be aiming with their āweakā hand.

I mean, the N64 controller itself is set up in a weird way that you have to use the left hand for aiming, its the only natural way to do it. Like Turok, using the C buttons as WASD was pretty genius, as the control scheme was super basic and could be mapped to the other buttons and it felt good. Goldeneye and Perfect Dark and yeah the other FPS on that console tried to reverse that and it felt horrible.

I donāt even argue that. I have seen it now and am shocked.
Whatās worse people I respected run glitched Dante builds that have extra perks and use a reloading glitch.
High damage weapons reloads are supposed to take longer not be instant.
Exploits are still cheats and this gameplay is just toxic. So I get why some reds run the gauntlet.
But I wonāt exploit or cheat and wonāt run with people that do anymore. So leave the gauntlet home. I could say go play Fortnite but that would require them to have skill.
Anyone who thinks they need to cheat at this game is just a loser. Very sad.

So the last two days I mostly stayed for preds with a gauntlet and killed them. Actually quite easy to do if you use longer range weapons and stay a bit apart because letās face it- people that run it donāt have any skill.
But frankly I will likely still leave as canāt be asked most of the time and the people I play with canāt be asked either. Something about letting them play bots is more satisfyingā¦
the fact that a support with 200HP with another support close for that 20% damage reduction and YOU, a top tier player, barely survived with 11HP clearly shows how many of us barely have a chance to win even against a potato player if we donāt have those loadout advantages once the pred engages.
Donāt get me wrong, Iāve won many matches with my assault class and potatoes against players using that stupid weapon, but it has always been pure luck and my only complain is how it makes dumb players feel like they are great. Reminds me of the axe when it was broken, but worse.
its a 1v4 game, imagine if I was on a premade, which still see some around, all using op stuff thinking they are good for it, its not different than this weapon, on 1v1 you are screwed half the time, mainly when it focus on you, its like netgun with trapper, pred is gonna win. Predator just has now the equivalent of a bunch of things ft had for years.
I shouldnt even be able to beat all preds using it on 1v1, yet with the right buildā¦ im not even as good as I used to, i play like 1-2 hours per week lately
The patience to even get to that mindset over prolonged periods is a work of art within itself
