I use circle for thermal, R3 for TI, and the d-pad for weapons
Should the game be fast or slow paced
Ew circle lol.
You’re more combat focused layout I see.
Well this game is nothing but combat so I don’t see why not.
I completely understand.
It’s just too late for me to switch now.
A dedicated wep switch would be nice tho.
Need help lemme know. Be interested to try that “spot” experiment too because I’m guessing you can’t out run the spotter
My mapping is default but I switched tree interactions to R3 as that is unassigned with base mapping. Helps now that every time I jump I don’t have to worry about trees.
Maybe, but the question I’m posing is how much of a difference. If they are close(<15%), then it really doesn’t matter.
From what I remember sizable.
If you want me to be more realistic and movie accurate, slow paced with low ttk. With respective damage tables and balance tweaks.
If you want something like Predator Hunt from AVP 2010, fast paced and brittle health for each side, respawns allowed.
There’s quite a bit they could do, but this game in particular, Illfonic seems to want to go for a fairly unique approach to Predator. Which I think has an immense amount of potential, but is limited heavily due to the strict lack of PVE. But that’s the issue, if you want to make a realistic Predator game, you HAVE to include PVE. An organized team can take down a Predator with relative ease if prepared correctly. Look at Predator 2. Keyes and his team would’ve had the City Hunter no problem if they had known of his ability to switch to vision modes other than just IR to other spectrums entrely. Look at Dutch’s team now. Even before Dutch had begun working with the OWLF, he took down two Predators. Then once he had the tools he needed and the crew that comes with it, he was bringing in tech left and right, even nagged a body later on. Hell, he fought the upgrade Predator from Predator 2018 and made him flee! (Listen to the audio logs, it isn’t confirmed but it’s heavily implied)
So, to review, if you have a Fireteam that knows what to do, it’s difficult to effectively… Predator, if you will. If you have a Fireteam who’s new to the game, it’s fairly easy to Predator.
Consider this as well, Predators aren’t used to being hunted, and with the balance of the game, it’s braindead easy to turn the tables on a Predator IF you know what you’re doing. The top 10%? Imagine those are teams like Dutch’s. And below the 30%, those are prey being stalked unknowingly until it’s too late to do anything meaningful.
And, just like in the lore, there are top 10% Predators like Cleo or Valkyrie that hunt these death squads.
It’s very difficult to respectively hunt as a Predator if your prey shares your intelligence, weaponry, agility, and resolve. Which is precisely why the games balance is down the shitter. Fireteams learned in a remarkably short time, and now those that know what they’re doing find it more stressful to deal with an AI mob than to capture a Predator body. BUT, that’s not to say there aren’t 10 percenter Predators that butt heads with those Fireteams.
Are y’all starting to see where the difficulties and stress stems from? Illfonic did a great job replicating how a typical match would play out between an unknowing hunter and weary prey. But when it comes to death squads and elite Predators, the game falls apart. Only the top 5% Predators take these teams out. And I don’t mean ding dongs all running Support Field Medic, Dante Unleashed, or Dante Field Medic. I mean Recon Snipers, Support Overseers, Dutch Fanatics, OWLF Spotters, etc. Diverse teams. Team X, Voodoo Boys(although I’ve played you guys running meta builds several times), A Team, Scarface and his homies, and many others.
In conclusion, making a realistic Predator game is harder than you think, without AI or bots. If you want a fairly fantasized version of Predator, you’ve got it right now, just needs balancing adjustments. Yes, playing Predator realistically would mean roleplaying, as is playing Rainbow Six or Ghost Recon games. So what? Some of us like to do that, and others prefer high tension PVP.
