I think Illfonic went to get the rights, wasn’t other way around. Which means other companies could of gotten it if they were big enough, but might be many big companies are not interested. I think things would be a bit different if COVID situation wasn’t as bad, were restrictions are high and mental toll it is having on people. I mean big company doesn’t mean always success like you said with EA.

No it doesn’t always mean success but the bigger companies are usually better positioned to fix bugs and produce more maps etc.

Sometimes, I mean EA had a really hard time with that whole Star Wars Battlefront 2 in the beginning, content every 3 months and micros. In the end it was getting better, but even they had bugs constantly when updating with new stuff that went weeks without updates.
