Skirmishing In the Fourms

I didn’t really want to do a post like this, but this is really just a question.

Why are people attacking one another in the fourms?

Like, I understand that not everyone will see eye to eye on subjects, and may feel strongly about others, yes, but verbally assaulting one another solves just about nothing. We should be a welcoming community; not one that attacks people for stating their views, even if they’re misguided. If we do so, we’re no better than other communities out there, ones I can’t name because I’d rather not throw shade on them.

Some are angry about the buffs and nerfs, for that, I have to say this:

It’s okay to be angry, but it’s never okay to be mean

I’m not saying bottle your strife up, but what I am saying is at least respectfully state your views. If you think the Predator players shouldn’t have complained and wanted a buff, that’s your opinion. If you think the FT is still too OP, that’s also your opinion.

Let’s keep this community going as long as we can and respect one another, because at the rate we’re at now, we risk running the community into the ground from toxicity long before the devs can unveil their plans for May.

If its directed at someone i agree, no need for it… but in an adult themed game like this a bit of swearing and shitty bickering isnt really unexpected… its an internet afterall lol

Honestly I really don’t know. These forums definitely have some solid people and players. But man, there’s a lot of toxic folks here, lol.

this stuff happens. It happened in the Evolve forums, and on the Last Year discord as well…
“Tribalism” AKA “A horribly toxic ‘Us vs.Them’ mentality…”

More to the point is the fact that this Toxic Tribalism was never put in check.
Web forums are like the Wild west as Gamers(like most nerd cultures) can be some of the most opinionated assholes you’ll ever see…

What this forum needs is someone(maybe 3 someones) that encourage open debate, but rap you on the knuckles when that debating turns into petty name calling…

And basically locks up repeat threads. Namely the 5000 threads that say “(insert class/weapon/Team here) is OP”… we fucking get it, kid. It killed you, so its OP… 🙄

But, sense we don’t really have anyone doing that the forums have become a Radioactive Sewer…

Speaking of Toxicity, i have to go back to combatting some…

It’s not really worth arguing about either when it’s just the fact that 80% of the arguments have the same answer. “Just parry dude XD” or " Improvise, use more range." Etc. The main fact of the matter is that the skill gap is already extremely wide. About 10% of the people who play the game have figured out how it works :P Itd be nice if people tried to learn instead of being toxic.

I think there was also the issue of, from what someone pointed out, some FT players got “cozy” in a sense. Comfortable with being able to fend the Predator off easily, but with that revoked, they’ve taken to openly attacking Pred players who don’t want to sit on a rock and spam the caster all day.

Really, the moral is “be flexible”. The game’s been out for less than a month. Things will change like clockwork and nothing’s truly set in stone.

Some people kind of deserve the you are “Dumb as fuck” comment. Main example, go look for that thread were the guy is literally asking for micro transactions to be put into the game. How could you not want to say how dumb they are?

I’ll admit, that is a foolish move. Adding a live-service/microtransactions into a game doesn’t help it whatsoever. But, at the same time, my best advice to someone like that is…well just to ignore them. A small handful of people like microtransactions, and most devs know adding them into their game pisses off their fans, so he’ll probably get nowhere with his request.

Because I wanna fkn fight everyone. The weapons for our duel. A slingshot and a dildo. HAVE AT YE. lol. Cause some people are too fucking emotional. That and they dont understand forums like these are created to try and make this a better game.

A lot of the time it’s because people find it easier to insult people, or their mothers, than to write a legible sentence with an credible argument.
You’re just a bitch; obviously not a predator player; that’s absurd; whiny loser player; I have a 90% win rate, must be you… etc. Don’t bother getting fired up at it, it’s little more than a weak argument, a logical fallacy.

I haven’t played enough to say “this or that is OP”, or deny it. I don’t find the game horribly unbalanced - it’s just missing that “horror feel” that being hunted by a massively superior creature should give you. The team in Predator went frickin’ loco trying to deal with it.

I want to be scared by that Predator, that feeling of “we done fucked up” when the monster is standing in front of you with your buddy a metre off the ground, blades sticking out of his chest, squealing like a piglet.
And that should be rewarding for the Predator too, that they were able to close in undetected, or nab a straggler.
