Agree. Every object the energy has to go through before hitting a soldier (including, of course, a roof) should deduct damage, same as distance from the landing point.
A roof is a natural protection. Not only receiving the same damage under it than the one you would get if predator landed in your head makes no sense in the game, it also makes no sense in general.

if this mechanic did not exist then ft would just huddle in buildings the whole game which is not fair at all. Until predator has some weaponry like throwing detonators in AVP2 which came out when I was 17 or 18 and I’m 36 now. Or any type of explosive device this mechanic is going to stay.

if a significant blast happens even at range and you are behind a structure, it will affect your body negatively.
(shit there was a heap of US soldiers that experienced it this year in Iran).
No direct physical injuries but because they were in the radius of the shockwaves they sustained internal injury.
