slam...

Exactly, nothing is uniformed and each match is different

Do you play customs or MM?

Yea, basiclly my point is I feel ppl (not everyone) that are for roof slams, yet complain about campers at the same time, would rather wait for ppl to go inside places honestly, so they can use it without any repercussions or down sides to taking dmg since u can get away with it on roofs much easier before FT know whats even going on. Thats why i feel its exploitative and easy to abuse when dmg through walls is bugged as it is at the moment with grenades from the Fire Team even

going off what they complained to me about i’d say they play MM together as fire team only. and when ever their not around a mix of both Predator and fire team but form the sounds of things mostly fire team.

Of course, I mean people exploit anything they can, it’s unavoidable most the time. I played a match and all this Predator did was slam, hop out, slam hop out, over and over. I don’t know how they found it fun, but hey that’s their game, so be it. We can’t change that behavior, so I just roll with the punches and do the best I can to play a fun game for me and my opponents, but if I’m getting my ass kicked I’m not going to lay off exploits to try and even it back up. Like you said before, no 2 matches are the same.

MM ._.

Go play customs and I guarantee you’ll change your mind about slam.

Predator gets absolutely destroyed by people in discord.

If play just a casual fireteam match with people on discord, we don’t ever have to worry about the predator beating us. I’ve seen guys hunt down the predator and parry him down solo. People will stand on top of buildings and just wait for the predator to come in. If he jumps in he’ll get mowed down in 2 seconds. A lot predators can’t even handle getting chased down.

It’s a completely different game when you have a fireteam with teamwork.

Even if you are a pro level predator, there are so many stupid glitches like the stamina glitch and getting stuck in little nooks and crannies that just one glitch can ruin the game for you. So if you’re trying to leap away but your staimina won’t recharge, you’re done.

thank you my dear fellow!

Honestly after reading this whole thread. If the devs come out and say its a perfectly reasonable tatic and not a glitch (the aoe going thru roofs and such) I wonder if the people calling it a exploit would leave or just complain harder šŸ¤”. I think the only time ive used slam was when they were about to extract and down 2 then used melee to down the third while the fourth got away. Otherwise I PC spam towards the middle of the room if I have the angle. Makes me wonder what these peeps will do.

I’m a youtuber and alot of people ask me why I don’t slam building and i tell them I’m damn near 100% sure it’s a exploit. The whole purpose of the slam giving you an energy overload leaving you in a animation of recovery after and doing loads of damage is for it to have counter play. I’ve noticed from other youtubers that about 2-3 slams will kill the whole team in a building. There’s no counter play at all since they can’t shoot nor see through a building so all the downsides the dev’s gave the move don’t matter, that’s why it’s a exploit. Every one that is defending just isn’t good with pressuring Fireteams in buildings. As you said there’s many ways to pressure inside buildings ie. motion detectors on top to figure out locations plasma shots quick bow shots smart disc etc. I currently don’t use slam pretty much at all. it’s a waste of time since its gonna get patched, like why do you think the dev’s added the blinding effect along with energy overload and the recovery? Because fireteams were still punishing predators after using the damaging move so much so they made it so it’s a bit harder to get damage on him in the open BUT you still can that’s the balance the counter play to it. all in all I completely agree with you karl lol ps. There are objectives where you have to defend computers in buildings and if you leave before it’s done it’ll pause lol

Well said…Yea I know im not the only one who feels that way. Idk if its ppl assume that aoe means that its suppose to go through surfaces cuz its not…its one thing to hit FT with splash damage with Plasma cannon…normally cuz u shot through something to hit near them or within the radius of their bodies while having a line of sight in some manner…No one knows where the fuck its coming from half the time and we are able to track them with an icon above their heads and wait until they go under something…Its basically what u said at the start tho…Slam is meant to have penalities to using it as predator… id glady accept it being a thing if thats how it was intended…but when u look at it in its most basic form…it has multiple penalties in using it…

Just cuz someone found a way to roof slam now with it and avoids the whole point of energy overload and an animation that can carry out with no repercussions like it just feels off to me…straight up. The game shouldnt be worked around this, it should be fixed or acknowledged on its description…

Yeah pretty much I’m sure they’re going to fix it they just buffed it with the flash so it wasn’t as much repercussions doing it in the open. They definitely don’t want you destroying people in buildings with absolutely no counter play but to leave out half health and get finished off but alot of people will do anything to win

Same, but it’s like there has to be one guy that leaves the building before the rest will go. Otherwise they will just crouch in the building for 3 minutes before they die panicking trying to interact with medkits.
Or under the train
Or under the pier
Or beneath the stairs
Or anywhere where their back is against the wall and they percieve it as a safe zone because ā€œaha we can just cover this angle and surely the predator will jump down here to try to shoot down this tiny hole!ā€ ā€œThen we can shoot at his knees!ā€

The argument is ā€œAOE going through objects is low risk high reward!ā€ As if bodyblocking the door to your safe space with a single entrance so you can funnel the pred into a much smaller line of sight is high risk.

And to the other guy, no you don’t need line of sight to shoot at the corner of the building with the plasma caster. Same thing. Goes through the wall.
The penalty to slamming is that you’re rooted in place and anyone with half a brain now knows you’re right on top of a teammate and lights you up.

The animation cancel is busted though.

I read that first as ā€œUnder the starsā€ I was like wow things getting romantic out in your jungles

Any team with half a brain isn’t going to let you sit there and charge plasma caster shots at the doorway since its as equally obvious as someone slamming over and over, and if they just jump out the doorway and shotgun your scout in the face congratz youre at half hp for absoutely nothing because the rest are inside playing hot potato with a medkit. People hide in buildings because a) they panic and think its a good tradeoff to just not do objectives & limit their mobility to nothing in exchange to being able to cover an angle . B) know predator has limited indoor options and they probably killed some zerk with this amazing turtling strategy once.
It’s dumb and people should just spread out and cover eachother if theres some big scary scout outside with a 8 second cd on slam.

You’re only able to hit FTs under the docks, bridge, train etc because AOE works the way it does. And people still think mid air caster projectile collision is bad. Try throwing a stick in there and wow you can’t hit it at that angle. There are physical crawl spaces the predator needs to splash to hit.

I’d prefer no AOE going through objects at all, and making map changes to limit the situations where AOE through objects is the only option. If there’s a building with one door, add another door or a window or something so that smart discs can go through, etc. AOE through objects is a predator’s solution to poor map design that fireteams exploit, but with the fact that there are so few maps, Illfonic could fix the map design to eliminate the options fireteams have to turtle up and protect a single entrance while also fixing something that is abuseable.

The solution to poor map design is to demand map fixes, not to demand bugged gameplay mechanics that get around the bad map design.

I complain about it and I prefer to play pred. It’s a scrub move that makes no logical sense and is annoying so I also dont do it in return regardless. I’ve never had a camping ft get in a position to where I cant slide a plasma caster shot in and drain their heals.

I’m a pred main and if I’m ft idc if ppl roof slam or ice skate.
Its whatever. However I do think spamming it on the average team is pretty lame.

I’m indifferent if its removed.
As for logic though, since the Yautja are pretty advanced I could see them create a somewhat controlled explosion that can go through solid matter.

Unfortunately it’s Illfonic

I think there’s quite a few of us that play Pred mainly and feel that way.
