So I saw a bit of the Dev stream - I now know why the Pred gets nonsensical stat/weapon updates

…It’s because they have no fucking clue or seeming interest in how to play as the Predator.

So yeah, I happen to click on the feed when I saw it pop up in Twitter, and I jump in as (to my amazement) one of the Devs is playing as a Predator in Hunt mode!.. Yes, it took me a second to get over the shock.

Anyway, I proceed to stare in open-mouthed disbelief as I watch a Viking Pred in blingy gold armor amble through the jungle in a seemingly disorientated state. When he accidentally stumbles across the FT he proceeds to try a few axe swings before getting melted and retreating. Fortunately for him, the FT appear to be under instructions not to punish him too much, as he makes no attempts to leap away or use the cloak, so he’s just this lumbering, green-glowing blob, jogging along in a state of panic looking for somewhere to hide and heal.

I watched about 3 to 5 minutes of this before I could take no more (so maybe someone who had actually played Predator before showed up at some point) but the general impression I got from the gameplay and the commentary (which seemed to be full of laughs at the fact the Pred was useless, and if I remember rightly, did actually mention that the guy playing didn’t play as Pred usually) was that the Devs really don’t have anyone even mildly competent or interested in playing as a Pred, as why would you showcase such car-crash gameplay on your official channel?!

Can anyone here who watched the whole thing confirm as to whether the stream was like that the whole way through, or did it get better at some point?

Yah that was Trevor I believe in which NEVER plays pred. And he stated many times he was probably the worse predator there is…
He has nothing to do with balance of the game and most the guys playing don’t either they were just people that work on the game from different departments to answer questions.
But yes it was horrible and painful to watch

Whole way. They never highly punished the pred. They would 2nd wind them and give chase and then say oh dam i lost sight since he ran in front of a tree.

That and that guys heavy breathing and yelling at his cat for the entirety of the stream. Which was you know who. These devs are not gamers not even in the slightest chance. The whole stream was a meme.

I too would like to know because if this is true then why don’t they ask some of the most analytical and dedicated players in the community to help play test their game before they release a patch.

Cause that would require them to work. Lol. They say they had been looking into the bow bug for 2 months on the stream. Yeah really 2 months Illfonic. And no solution? Are you serious. And when I pushed the subject further they overall muted me and avoided the question from others

They need a better testing team. I applied back in the day. But seeing as it’s illfonic I am kinda glad cause I don’t think they listen or allow a lot of testing outside of themselves.

I’m still suffering the audio bug that’s been persistent since Excavation was released. I’ve heard absolutely no word on that.

Not just that, if they too lazy or cheap to hire testers, watch streams, listen to community.
I could tell them how to fix bow and depending what code they use could send them the code to copy and paste it 😂

Holy hell so at this point they know about it but would rather A: keep it under wraps or B: not do anything about it, who am I kidding it’s both. But if I say they’re incompetent for this and their lack of communication then I’m the bad guy.

How to play peed. Keep you distance. Take out a bow. Run around. Change weapon to melee. Fire team with toss smoked to gimp self. Go ham. Get melted

I mean, you’d think if they were planning on showcasing some Predator gameplay they’d at least use someone on their team who has some experience or competence at it. The fact that they instead dedicated much of the stream to this clueless guy makes me believe they don’t have such a person.

Looks like they’re all FT focussed with little-to-no interest in Pred gameplay, and this translates over into the kind of head-scratching updates we end up getting.

I dont think it’s necessarily that. Without peed this game would be dead on arrival, but their decision making us definitely sus. Like there was that period of players calling for more interesting FT. Maybe instead if making FT intersting, they dumbed down pred 😁

We just don’t know enough and probably never will so we cobstruct our own theories based on what we see. At the point that when it comes to explaining the dlc/update decisions, all that comes out is trolling.

But I’m still here all the same
