Social media reposts?

It is a known business tactic , to hold on to certain IPs , studios churn out shit just for the sole purpose of holding the rights for an extended time .

EA sucks ass , but hunting grounds? Is closer to soulless than you might think .

It reeks of being rushed and unpolished , its called a passion project ? I have yet to see this passion .

It’s Sony, not Disney. Ik people like to go DISNEY DISNEY DISNEY this game dropped before Disney even touched Fox, its been like this from the start. Sony also handles marketing. This would be like blaming 20th century for lack of announcement for DLC for AvP, Sega was in control of that. Publisher is not the same as a liscensing department.

Things have to be posted on the PS blog as part of their publisher contract. It’s how Sony handles their contractors.

I’d argue they have acted more like EA or a triple A dev team, than they actively have behaved as a small one.

  • Preorder exclusives that still divided the playerbase till this date.
  • Peppering in paid DLC that doesn’t directly influence the game or boost lore.
  • More profit based than actually focused on gameplay and overall experience.

They have minimal to no community engagement.

I figured that would be the LAST way a smaller dev team would behave and you’d think they’d want to be more directly involved with… everything?

Idk man. They are pulling at strings when they want to and it seriously hasn’t helped them any.

Also not owning up to practically anything, other than that ONE time the servers were actually down, after countless community posts acknowledging it, doesn’t show a great amount of pride over the functionality of the game.

No first year anniversary

No predator 87 anniversary mention

No predator 2 anniversary mention

It’s like they purposefully are sabotaging their own game and opportunities for success.

Literally makes zero sense to me.

I doubt the negative reviews and negative feedback boosted their morale, they cant fix the bugs so its probably more of a headache than a passion project?

But to not try and make it better?!?! :(

Sad pred face.

I dont think they wouldn’t try , I just think they admitted it themselves by saying “we are a small studio” , they are out of their depth

Pre-Order exclusives exist, should’ve pre-ordered when you had the chance. Does it suck? Yeah, but they’re not gonna release it as post-launch DLC because they make a legal promise to the buyers of the Pre-Order it would remain as a Pre-Order EXCLUSIVE and not as a EARLY ACCESS.

With the exception of Dutch 87 & City Hunter who were added for Fan Service purely, all of the DLC has expanded the lore thus far. Dutch 2025 came with his own audio tapes and set up the current narrative time frame the game is exploring. Samurai showed us a Predator who hunted in Feudal Japan and how some Preds took on aspects of the cultures they hunted within. Viking expanded upon this and took that to the Norse, with his lore detailing his death setting up the launch of Valkyrie who also hunted in that region & time period to avenge him. And soon we’re probably gonna get Isabelle who will be going into Post-Predators lore like how Dutch 2025 set up Dutch’s story post-Predator. Oh and Dutch 2025 set up Cleo in his audio tapes, who is going to be the DLC Pred in august and will be the huge narrative leap forward for the Pred’s side since she’s a Cleaner & the only Predator to best & humilate Dutch in combat.

All games have to turn a profit, and when you’re a team of just 30+ people being handed this huge IP by two of the largest companies in the world right now, you have a lot of pressure & demand from higher ups to push profit over quality of life. That’s the reality of it.

And they’re doing all I expect of them. They’re a team of just over 30 people. They’re working in a pandemic. They’ve only ever made small game projects with tiny budgets and a lot of jank. HG is still their most polished game to date and it works fine for what it is. It’s not the game I wanted or waited since Concrete Jungle for, but it’s been nothing but fun for me personally and I’m willing to stand by it because it’s the only solo Pred game we’ve had since 2006. Could there be a better game? Of coruse, any game could be better. But I’m not unrealistic & i’m not entitled, I understand who the Devs are, where they come from & what their previous works are and for what their portfolio is & has been, this game is perfectly servicable.

And we are entitled to our own opinions!

I agree with practically all of what you said. I probably play this game more than the majority of the folks in this forum (not a flex, just a show of my enjoyment for the game)

Just a shame to see such a small team not attempt to try to help themselves and allow themselves to half ass a ton of stuff surrounding such an awesome IP.

Monolith has been dead and the game is in legal limbo because a dev leaked the source code after they knew the game was going down.
That stuff worked in the 2000s but its forbidden now.
All small studios seem to know how to do anymore is flip unreal engine assets instead of making games from the ground up.

Rebellion used their own engine for AvP2010 too. idk I think we’re just reaching critical mass in this entire industry. Even if we got a new AvP it’ll just be unreal engine colonial marines asset flips loosely cobbled together into a game. Just like that aliens FT game is.

Then whoever wants to make an awesome Predator or AVP game.

Just bring em in! Lol

no one. we’re pretty much a paycheck for contractors that haven’t made a single game.

Well I don’t believe they’re half-assing it. I think Illfonic is working to the best of THEIR ability, doubly so in the current global climate. Now maybe you don’t like the best they have to offer, and that is perfectly valid these wouldn’t have been who I chose to develop a new Pred game at the time either, but that’s something you should have probably researched before picking up the game. I knew who Illfonic was coming in to this, I’d played quite a bit of their Friday the 13th game. I knew I was coming in to a Multiplayer-Centric Assym game that would very likely be rather sparse in content and incredibly jank in a lot of places, but overall have a ton of fun to it. Especially if playing with friends.

That’s what I figured the game would at least, begin as.

We are over a year since the game has released and truthfully thought they would at least provide improvements to the base of the game.

We are still dealing with day 1 bugs.

Call me crazy, but I didn’t expect illfonic to make a stagnant Predator game.

I thought it would be successful and actually grow?

With what they have added, it truly hasn’t changed much to the overall dynamic of the game or its performance.

Their games aren’t bad in concept, the execution falls off and you can tell they want to do more but don’t necessarily have the talent/resources to do it so everythings lacking in depth. They don’t WANT the AI to be garbage they just bought off the unreal marketplace but they’ve been looking for an AI programmer since this game launched. I don’t think they’d want predkour to be on rails if they had people capable of coding assassins creed parkour stuff people keep unreasonably asking for.
Dev talent now is different from dev talent then.
It’s not a money issue its an experience issue and you can’t really hire a bunch of people after the game is made and try to teach them all over again might as well recode the game.

I disagree. And I think it’s very telling that a lot of people have very short memories or just bad memory in general. The game in its current state plays vastly differently on a moment-to-moment, tactical & meta level than it did at launch. The surface of the game is still very much the same, and from the outside you wouldn’t see too much change. But the nature of the matches, the playstyles of both sides & the general way experienced players approach the game has radically altered itself from Launch to Now.

Content has never been large for this game, and considering the genre & devs it never was going to be, but all the small patches, DLC characters & weapons, new features like Specialisations, they all add up over time and change the moment to moment stuff quite a bit.
