Seems like players aren’t sticking around in the lobby for it these days unless it’s in nightmode, maybe. I feel the map comes up too much from the draw pool or people just don’t like to play it. Is there some way to put in a map vote alternative so this kind of situation is avoided? Otherwise, just seems as if everyone ends up leaving the lobby and the game never starts.
Sooo.. Excavation
People quit on this map during the day because at the moment there’s a game breaking issue with frame drops.
For whatever reason staring at any light source like a grenade explosion or a plasma caster burst, or the sun will cause their frames to take a nose dive. It feels as if you’re lagging on steroids. Because the sun causes this to happen the most, the only way to be able to play is by either sticking to the caves or staring in the opposite direction.

Gonna be honest with you, not to discount your experiences, but I’ve never had a issue like that with Excavation before, but I’ve had it on Airstrip (Day.)
You think there’s some kind of trigger for it?
excavation is overall just the most unfun map. you cant travel efficiently without falling through a crack in the ground into a cave thats extremely difficult to get out of and a death trap for a predator if they fall into a fireteam with no way to escape except the entrances, its just a terrible and the worst map design in the game so i leave it too, its trash
Same here. Excavation has never been a problem on either side for me.
This shit happens to me all the time on Excavation Day, can vouch for it being a thing on that map. The Night version is perfectly fine, as is every other map in the game. Just the Day version of Excavation is fucked right now. Been like this since the Hunting Party dropped.
It’s happened ever since Cleo came out for me. Not only is Excavation lighting messing up my frames but so are any explosions on any other map. A teammate can shoot a grenade in front of me and it will make my frames free fall. Maybe it’s a PS4 issue or maybe it’s a frame cap toggle issue.
I’ve actually noticed a frame drop on Excavation Day that I never did before the current patch, playing on PS5. Seems to happen when explosions go off or there’s a lot of moving models in the area.
I agree wiht the idea for voting if its night or day
But yeah like @Durbs2001 said dont let them vote the map itself, they just do airstrip and have access to a trillion ammo crates
