Spotting for the Fireteam.

The spam spotting is ridiculous. Give spotting a proper cooldown, just as the Predators spotting for his targets in thermal does. I find the spotting to be ridiculously overused, and I would even go as far as to say it should only be available for the Scout class. But I’d be happy with just a cooldown either way.

True. Lol. It takes you out of the Immersiveness of the game/Jungle feel.

That is so true. Even though the Predator is the one that should be the watching/spotting/stalking, the Fireteam is so much better at spotting him, than the other way around.

As the Predator you only get to spot once in every 2 minutes, with Thermal Vision which is also tied to your energy supply, AND you only get a vague idea of where they are as it only lasts for 5 seconds.

But the Fireteam? Just press E where you think he might be, spamming like a maniac and eventually you can pin him. Now do that times 4 till the end of the match.

Or just take it out completely. It’s ruining the game.

I agree with just removing it. They have the ability to ping a location as a call-out to their teammates. That’s all they should need. The cloak is already pretty pointless while moving and the fire team doesn’t need a magical, red outline to mark the Predator for focused fire.

Yeah just spam E and there he is.

Legit. And the predators footsteps are the loudest thing in the game it’s just stupid. You’re absolutely right. He should be completely silent when he’s moving because the cloak is already so easy to see.

YEs i wrote a large post on this, the spotting…has to go. It ruins the game now, because getting spotted doesnt even mean you were reckless, and you can get spotted by simply sitting still not even moving, i have no idea wtf is going on with that.

Remove it, it will help this game more than you think. Wanna spot? Use you eyes and try to play the game.

What they could do is give the FT only the ability to spot the Predator’s last location, give them a cooldown between pins, and give Recon the ability to mark the Predator for 2-3 seconds before a cooldown of 10 seconds without the ability to pinpoint.

Or create a mechanic where the FT doesn’t mark a precise spot but mark a location on the mini-map and on the compas. Split the mini-map into 8 different parts and when you see the Predator, you point into a location that will be between cardial directions, and that part will show on the mini-map and on the compass. And keep the idea above for the Recon, of him being the only one capable of marking the Predator but with drawbacks.

ex: You pin and he is between N and NW, so both the mini-map and compass will glow between these cardial points as a sign of someone seeing the Predator on these coordinates.

Problem is, evryone plays Recon then. The classes in this game has no diversity, everyone can use everything. Like we have now, everyone uses the scout, fastest class, get PRed on second wind, chase him and kill him, and keep spotting.

Spotting needs to go, completely. If im uncloacked and standting there like a prick, yes…spotting me would be fine, but not Xray me through walls and terrain for seconds…just dont.

I’m still new (lvl 19 and played only fireteam) but I’m getting the impression spotting is a little too good. While I’m not convinced it needs to go completely it does need to be tuned down a bit.

A few things I’d consider
-remove red outline spotting
-make the red outline visible only to pred, this way he knows you see him but he’s not screwed royally.
-give spotting a cool down (5-15 seconds)
-have making call outs draw attention to you. Like the pred sees exactly who is doing the call out.

Personally I don’t bother spotting the pred at least not directly. I’ll give the direction over mic and mark the tree the pred is on. This way he’s not immediately taking evasive action, which means I get an easy snipe.

And here comes the other idea I had, you can play with Recon, but if get caught by a Berserker or a Hunter, 2 hits it all you need to get downed. Recon and Scout could keep up with a Predator for a few moments, but if they decide to fight back and the Support and Assault were behind, then it should be certain death.

The spotting system could be balanced to something like this, but the FT sure needs alot of balancing so the spotting can stay but without making too easy for them. Evolve had a similar mechanic to the spotting, but in no way you shouldn’t go on by yourself and fight against a monster alone, you should stay as a team to survive and each one had a different job in the team. I belive they could use Evolve as inspiration and do something like that game, make every class unique and force the matches to have one of each class.

The thing is though, the Predator is not the fire teams main goal, and it really isn’t their goal to hunt him at all, unless he engages first, as far as I’m concerned. Predator is the HUNTER. Fireteam has enough fire power as is, they don’t need to be given any more hand outs. I saw someone else post about the Scout Predator needing more weight and such things as they’re at a disadvantage already health wise, I agree. They should be compensated. I’m trying to get into Scout class, it’s difficult, but it’s rewarding.

Dude I’ve had fireteam members just randomly spamming the spot button in every direction while I’m trying to ghost them and they spotted me out WHILE I WAS INVISIBLE it makes absolutely no sense. It’s killing the game for me. Definitely.

You’re not able to bring any gear though you can only carry a weight of 5 that’s one item lol soooo lame. Ugh. I want to like this game but damn. The list just keeps getting longer

That’s why my solution is not pointing his exact position but a vage one, if the Predator attacks and someone marks a point you will have only a idea of where he is and you must look for your companions line of fire to have a notion of it, this would give the Predator more liberty when moving around because his current location would be a estimated one and not a precise one.
If the Predator is hurt the FT can’t pin point his exact location but rather the direction he has gone, meaning he could take any direction in the mean time.

yeah that really pisses me off…if the predator is INVISIBLE…why can they spot him? WHY???

INVISIBLE means outside of the visible spectrum, ergo, its not there for your eyes to see.

Remove the mechanic, i dont care what anyone says. IF they can ruin my suprise attack by spamming in my general direction and get lucky, fuck it, remove it. If im uncloaked, im fine with it, thats on the player for not hiding better.

Well, even though I agree the spotting is op and way too easy, the Predator is not “Invisible” he is translucent. You should be able to somewhat see him, if he is very very close and you’re really trying hard to spot him. Like in the movie. Right now he has like a “negative outline” effect that actually makes him visible (like a white ghost) up against trees and all.

The cloaking works, if it distords what is behind the Predator. Right now it looks like a mashup of colors and many times it makes him pretty visible.

I literally never play as FT. I needed some xp so I went FT. When the predator got close all I could see was spots. I literally just sat there in awe at the spamming. I hate playing FT because of how easy it is to win. Being a pred is far more challenging.
