Static Ammo Crates

1.13

Static ammo crates need to be implemented into each map. In the games current state and the lack of AI fixes, it is currently leading fire teams to spend all of their ammo on NPC’s.

There are static health kits throughout the Maps why are there not ammo crates?

There are Ammo Crates? They look like grey boxes but have Ammo Drops like the A.I do and are highlighted with a orange light.

I think he means in the same location every time. Like the med kits.

Not to mention the ridiculous shoot the pipe mission. It only exists to make you burn your ammo, make noise and take your eyes off the jungle and allow the big bad to pick you off.

The meds aren’t static are they? They appear semi RNG? Like ammo?

Medkits are random spawn, ammo crates are random spawn, learn to use your knife more often, perform sneak attacks from behind when entering a new guarded camp, line of sight AI so they come near you then you stab them.
Doesn’t take rocket science to understand.

I love hacking the AI Legs off lol

No that’s not correct. On each map there are static med kits which do not change location. There are also random spawned health kits throughout the maps.

Currently ammo crates only spawn randomly, there are no static ammo crates.

The backwater shoot the pipe objective is a great example why static ammo crates need to be in the game (or any other objective that forces you to shoot/destroy something). In addition the fact that the NPCs are so spongy you literally almost have no ammo to fight against the predator, ammo locations just like the health kits is needed for competitive play.

Lastly the knife is irrelevant if you play with individuals that do not have the same play style or they do not use weapons with a suppressor.

You are incorrect. Med kits spawn in fixed locations, they are there every single time, you can count on it.

Medkits are randomized and not always active in the same places just like the ammo crates.

Devs reduced ammo availability for a reason, it was too bountiful, don’t try to run into every situation guns blazing if you’re running out of ammo too often, try being tactical and sneaking up on Ai — knife them and prevent hostile soldiers from sounding the alarms.

There are potential ammo drops when killing an Ai and the wooden crates scattered around the map can be destroyed revealing ammo drops as well.

The reason to use knife is to conserve ammo, if your team members doesn’t use suppressors it means that the AI will go after them, and then you can run up to the mobs and knife them.
Not all medkits are spawned at fixed locations, and i entered a building in Backwater which had 4x medkits in it, 2x on the walls and 2x on tables, they are not always there.

There is a med kit in the butchers shed on backwater, always.

There is a med kit on the support girder of the water pipe between pump house and village, always.

There is a med kit on the left hand breeze way of the church in Backwater, always.

There is a med kit in the small building to the right of the main entrance of helipad on Derailed, always.

Point is , there are fixed spawns for med kits, and random spawns for medkits. Ammo crates are always random
The OP was suggesting fixed spawns for the ammo crates.

You’re right, melee is there to conserve ammo. The Ai do not go after just your teammates, as some go aggro and weapon up, all of the NPCs are alerted and they go after any FT member. Let’s not forget that a tactic the Predator uses is alerting the bases so that NPC reinforcements arrive. Those reinforcements are armored and heavily spongy.

Yes, the possibility of multiple dynamically spawned medkits is there, but we aren’t discussing those. There should be static ammo crates that are only usable three times like the current dynamic ammo crates. This can also be destroyed by the predator.

This is a balancing issue which is not in the FT’s favor in 1.13.

Although I agree that it’s frustrating there is always weapon crates granted I only ever used them if I had the wrong loadout.

We know that OP suggests fixed ammo crates and my response was that there aren’t fix medkits — so why should there be fixed ammo crates.

However, you stated that there are some fixed medkits, but the rest of medkits are randomized.

As of Patch 1.06 @IllFonic reduced both medkits and ammo crates purposefully because FT had too much access to supplies.

That’s why the ammo crates are randomized like the weapon crates and a percentage of medkits. If anything changes in that regard IMO is that all medkits should be randomized as well.

My response to balance as @Chiefbigsnake mentions is that the FT still has the upper hand because of sheer numbers, fire-power and reinforcement opportunity. The FT doesn’t need fixed ammo drops, for the matches are already stacked in their favor.

The alarm 🚨 tactic isn’t one-sided either. I intentionally go off-mission as a FT member to misdirect the Predator by setting off base alarms and tripping motion detectors.

I’m in opposition of the OP. And that’s from the lens of a player that enjoys playing as both the FT and as The Predator equally.

Some times medkits are on the walls and they are none functional! Just decoration!

Valid points.

They needed to reduce the medkits bc of the gear amounts for each class and the easy access to them throughout the maps. They still have static medkits, which are fantastic in my opinion. The FT can access them if needed and they can be destroyed by the Predator (which is a tactic i do).

I believe there were far more opportunities for medical heals bc people usually usually rock the stims bc they only take 4 gear points. But there does need to be some consistency with the ammo crates if the AI is going to continue to be in the current dumb spongy robotic state. The developers also need to add C4 usage for objectives that need to be destroyed so ammo isn’t wasted. The mission on Overgrowth were the generators need to be destroyed, soak up ammunition. It takes multiple magazines to destroy them, then you need multiple magazines to use against the AI, then you also need mags for the Predator, it gets a little overwhelming. Im just stating the ammo crates need a small buff. There only seems to be maybe 2 ammo crates randomly spawned on each map.

OR how about boosting the amount of ammo given by an NPC drop. It seems they only give around 15 rounds. I’ve not checked, but it seems very small for the amount that is expended during engagements.

I don’t think the ammo is the problem, we can kill Ai soldiers and pick-up ammo, we can bash open wooden crates and get ammo.

What’s truly scarce during a match are gear items — which can only be replenished from ammo crates like: Field Syrette, Frag Grenade, and Flashbang for instance.

I agree @Chiefbigsnake having a C4 device would be great for missions that require destruction, but the FT doesn’t have to dump magazine after magazine into these objects. Similar to what I mentioned earlier about tactics and taking down targets with stealth knife attacks and avoiding alarm activation to conserve ammo.

For instance, the mission where 3 generators have to be destroyed — FT doesn’t have to waist ammo. The FT can use a single Frag Grenade or other explosive per generator (Hammerhead Grenade Launcher or D34-D) to start the fire or dump maybe a magazine of small arms shots to initiate the fire. Once a generator is on fire, your team can move to the next target and the generator will continue to burn until it detonates.

You don’t want to be near those massive explosions because they’ll draw hostile Ai and the attention of the Predator. I just do enough damage to cause each item to be on fire then book it out if the area. The Predator goes there as the explosions are going off and you’re already en route to the next objective.

The same holds true for destroying the servers, computers, or crates don’t waist ammo — use your knives with the heavy attack to destroy those items. By doing that you conserve ammo and make less noise for the Predator to detect your team by.

I very rarely am in dire need of ammo, health kits are always the thing of want for me. And circling back to OP and locating Ammo Crates, if a FT member spots an Ammo Crate, even when they don’t need ammo yet, it stays on your mini-map the entire match just like alarms, weapon crates and first-aid kits.
