Here’s the problem
A. The “moth” that he’s supposedly based on looks less like him then Hornet does a spider
AND SHE’S SUPPOSED TO KEEP THAT A SECRET
And that’s forgetting that we already have several moths, none of which share any resemblance to Grimm.
B. That source for him being a bug does not sound or look official and looks like speculation
C. He looks and acts like a bat, as well as the fact that bats eat bugs, giving bats a connections to bugs

A. And I suppose the dung defender looks identical to a dung beetle.
B. It’s better than your intuition though as it supported through the vast majority of all major characters in the game being bugs.
C. He looks like any other bug in game but with a cape meant to resemble bat wings also bugs eat bugs especially in Hollow Knight.
