STEALTH mechanic suggestion from the game designer

We need to motivate the predator to a stealth game, not rush. We saw the community rage about rush mechanics and it’s not so good. This stealth gameplay will improve the game well and boost the gamer’s loyalty to this product. How to do this:

  1. Boost game timer to 20-25 mins. The first few minutes FT doesn’t know the mission location (no marker), but they can try to find it or wait 3-4 mins to get a location marker. This will allow the predator more time to think about success kills. 15 mins are not enough to play smoothly and stealthy, you always in rush because of the chopper.
  2. The predator needs to know the mission location for the ability to prepare some traps, etc.
  3. Get rid of the fast claims, only the long claims with animation which are very risky.
  4. If FT member picked up from the first drop he automatically gets stealth kill status for 3-5 mins (predator can kill him from behind).
  5. When reinforcements activated all returned members get stealth kill status up to the end of the match.
  6. Reduce predator sounds. Scout class has a need to be absolutely silent when berserk louder.
  7. Get rid of spotting, it breaks the stealth mechanic.
  8. Reduce the predator’s health for balance and motivation not to rush the FT.

As a developer, I know that all these points are not difficult to release. 2-4 weeks maximum. So I hope the community will support this article. LIKE it that ilfonic see this.

Don’t lose the trust of the community, increase loyalty.
Thanks!

I’m sorry but I’m going to have to disagree with a lot of whats said. I totally respect the thought put in to it but if you find that the 15min is too little time to get things done you are playing your game far too slowly which is not fun for most people. The one I mostly disagree with is not allowing the fire team to ping the predator. The ping doesn’t last that long. Without it none of the fire team members will be able to work together to actually do some damage.

The predator is loud for a good reason. Without that as well even if its for a different class it makes for a very frustrating game for the fire team. The devs have been developing this game should we say 2? 3 years?

They would have 100% tested the game with no ping and a very silent Predator in that time to discover that it was far too hard for the fire team. That goes for a lot of other things. The devs will have spent hours and hours of gameplay to find what works best for both sides and so thats why it is the way it is.

I have played both sides and as long as you either have a well coordinated fire team or know exactly how to play predator efficiently it is actually bang on what they have done so far! Needs tweaks but that drastic of a change won’t happen and won’t work.

Edit:
The kind of game you are describing would only work in a PvE style game. This is a competetive multiplayer shooter which to be enjoyable for both sides has to be paced the way it currently is. Also imagine wait times if every game was 25min.

Ok i disagree on a few.
1 Boost game times… Yes pls
2 Mision location ? Why ? i use traps even on the moment they are on a location. Use your tools well.
3. Why ? what i think is they should improve the awards for it. i had 6 claims 2 short 4 long. and i got shit for it in return because it was all in 5 min.
4 and 5 i actually like those.
6 agree.
7 maybe not get rid of it but lower its effectiveness.
8 Reduce ? omg. im actually happy they made the predator a bit stronger. an effective fire team that stays close to eachother can still beat the predator with ease.

They already did that. The time after spotting has been reduced and goes quite quickly. You can still be stealthy you just have to quickly bounce out the fight for the 2 seconds its wears off and then your invis again easy peasy. :D

The only things I don’t agree with is the health pool reduction to the predator and removing quick claim. If both were removed the predator would be dead much much quicker than normal. With doing quick claims its already risky when the FT members are nearby which is already dangerous. in that short amount of time the Predator can easily lose 20-50% of their health (assuming its not the beserker.) Its a great place to start for some changes though.

True. spotting has its disadvantage though for the fireteam. if you spot the pred the pred knows it and moves away. i never spot the pred itself but the tree its in so he isn’t alarmed. hehe

Thats smart but actually a big red outline for just a few seconds will give me a chance to snipe him through foliage that I wouldn;t otherwise be able to do. So guess its more situational.
