Anyone test Predator Hunting Grounds on the Steam Deck yet? Mine is still getting shipped and wondering if anyone here got there’s and tested it.
Steam Deck!
test what?
Hilarious! its supposed to be a portable streamer/controller. Its not in itself an actual gpu gaming console. Its suppose to be the receptor and controller of a desktop component or a streaming gaming service. Nvidia had one showcasing Arkham Origins a few years ago. same concept.
See how it runs PHG
Did you read what the steam deck is?
Steam deck is linux based. It will only run games on steam that have been ported to linux.
As far as I know, there is no linux port for PHG and frankly, I doubt it will ever be
Go get a PS5
Yeah naw
It’s a handheld computer, with a gpu, cpu, ssd, and everything. Can run games on its own
You can install windows on it
Also I have a PS5, an Xbox Series X, a 3090 RTX. I’m covered. I’m just curious how the steam deck will be
there is something on their wiki saying it is a receptor/controller for a streaming service. Whether it handles some or all of the graphics should be taken on a game to game basis. It just came out a week ago. I would wait until there are official games.
probably trash since this game will run like ass even on an 3090, but who knows
Hahaha you got that right. 4k and 120 frames on this game really makes my PC sound like it’s ready for lift off
I think they’re just saying it can also do cloud gaming. It can definitely run games on its own offline
im sure it could just like an itouch or iphone does. but yeah to get the same aesthetic for a game like PHG would require streaming. You can’t get the same visuals at all if it were running without an actual high powered GPU because you’d have to calculate lighting and such. Just because its at 480p doesn’t mean they render that small…but again i could be wrong.
Welp I’m getting it in a week, I guess we’ll see.
Saw a demo of it running Elden Ring so it can’t be terrible
Apparently it runs most game at a decent performance, no streaming required.
When it arrives I’ll let you all know if that’s true lol
yeah send me your steam code
1280 × 800 is its resolution on its native screen and can outout 8k which to me is only referring to its native OS being able to do so, remember even iphones carry 1280 × 800 but have 2x sampling. meaning iphones have double that resolution to make it display at 1280x800 for regular browsing and photo editing without the quality looking like crap. This is iphones antialiasing.
Goodluck eitherway. This steam deck supposedly will be able to emulate PS3 games whenever that shit comes into the library.
The GPU power is apparently comparable to a GTX 1060 on the Steam Deck.
I’ve been impressed what I’m seeing so far as a handheld.
I have Steam Deck and PHG.
Installed it yesterday as it is one of the games using easy anticheat that can be configured for Steam Deck (Vampire the masquerade Blood Hunt uses.the same anti cheat and works fine on Deck).
Unfortunately PHG is not configured for the Deck. What does it mean? Game will boot up, you will see AntiCheat loading, then error and game will start with anticheat off. From there Game is working, 40 - 100 FPS depending on config. Main menu loaded with animations no graphical artefacts or glitches. All models load fine. You have access to config, setup and character management. but quick play and other session starting options are offline due to anticheat being off.
For anyone waiting on deck to play PHG, it would be good to pressure devs to include deck in support.
Devs. Please include Deck in support game seems to work very well performance wise.
My deck finally got delivered the other day as well. I also ran into the same problem with the anti-cheat.
I’m really thinking about installing windows on the deck so I can play PHG on the go
I’m not sure if you are using the linux based steamOS on the steam deck and what has happened with EAC support on linux since the steamdeck was released. It may be that either EAC is still not supported on linux and VTMBH just doesn’t care is not running, or that just some versions of EAC are compatible on SteamOS
