It does not matter if the AI predator is simple and limited. Generally speaking, most gamers - myself included - prefer AI to be dumb and predictable to an extent so we can learn and exploit its patterns.
Look at the 1999 FPS Kingpin Life of Crime and its super smart AI and how frustrating it was to play compared to Quake II (Kingpin was built on the Quake engine) which had simple but fun AI.

Thats not what this game needs.
I want to play by myself against a predator. Just to sit back and relax. So that if the game is taken offline at some point, there will still be fun to be had.
Having an AI predator makes the game WHOLE AND COMPLETE!
