4/5 Stars.
Supporting Points:
- Human Models are top notch realistic but needs better facial animation though.
- Environments are hell top notch.
- Why the Irish make shortforms of proper English words I have no clue.
Still Wakes The Deep
I love me some claustrophobia and this game really delivers on it.
Most of the game is scoped out as a linear narrative with enough forks in the road making it interesting rather than a mind fuck puzzle.
The emphasis is more of authentic culture and life on an Irish oil rig.
I like this because I binge watched “The Rig” which this totally feel like its based off of.
However being a big fan of Alien Isolation I see the similarities here as well as some bits of The Thing in terms the horror element are here too.
There are moments where I felt like there was a ‘Queen’ like monster out in the misty nowhere of the ocean climbing everywhere on the rig! Every inch of this game is unique with dialogue expressing and pushing the narrative forward.
I wanted to play this game but stopped short to watch this walkthrough pretty all the way through.
Impressive is all I got to say.
Although this walkthrough in full is a 3.5 hour ordeal, even half way through was an interesting ride.
FROM CHATGPT with some manual cleanup:
I love a good dose of claustrophobia, and this game really delivers on that front. The majority of the game follows a linear narrative, with enough branching paths to keep things interesting, rather than relying on mind-bending puzzles.
The focus is on depicting authentic culture and life on an Irish oil rig, which I really appreciate. It reminded me of the series The Rig , which I binge-watched and feel this game is clearly inspired by.
As a fan of Alien: Isolation , I also noticed similarities here, as well as elements from The Thing in the horror aspects of the game. At times, I felt as if there was a “Queen”-like monster lurking in the misty ocean, climbing all over the rig. Every inch of this game is meticulously designed, with dialogue that effectively pushes the narrative forward.
Although I initially planned to play through this game, I stopped to watch a walkthrough video on youtube. I can only say, “Impressive!”
Even though the full walkthrough is a 3.5-hour ordeal, it was still an engaging experience watching it halfway through.
