Some would say an “alien” invasion would be the way to get ppl to work together but thats supposed to be the last play wen terrorism, global warming, or natural disasters don’t work.

An alien invasion would most likely end up with a mutually beneficial arrangement.
They probably know that we’re big enough assholes to use scorched earth and irradiate the entire planet out of spite if we lose, so an outright invasion is off the table.
The most logical thing? A trade agreement where we receive advanced tech and knowledge, and they receive nutrients, as Earth is really good at making that. There aren’t gonna be too many other places in the universe that are capable of replenishing the food and water supplies of the aliens, so they’re not gonna just throw that away in an all out war.
Granted if the aliens are here now, they’re probably waiting for humanity to advance a little further and become less aggressive, as they would quite easily observe how psychotic we are as a species and realize that if aliens showed up now, we’d probably be the ones initiating the war.

Well yeah that’s best case scenario for advancement of our species.
In all reality I’m expecting and welcoming the apocalypse.
It’ll be a coronal mass ejection from the sun.
Which would completely knock out power, and given how dependent we are on electricity as a society, it would crumble extremely quickly.
And we’re due for one. Last one was in the 1800s and they happen every 200 years or so.
Of course, because humanity currently lacks any significant long term planning skills, nothing is being done to prepare for this.
The biggest danger will be other people.
And I’m prepared for it.

Thats a good way to look at it if said invasion was legitimately aliens. I was referring to the theory where the powers that be would need a way to get everyone together to then be under a one world government. Its said that terrorism and those things were to be used as a means to control outcomes and use the hugalian (prolly spelled it wrong) where they already have a solution in mind so they cause problems to then give us the solution in which they already wanted in the 1st place they only needed the masses to get behind it.
So that being said the alien invasion could possibly be orchestrated to get the masses under the powers thumb. These are theories ofcourse, but there is evidence of talks of this in different forms. If it were legitimate tho id have to agree with you
