And here i thought I was a dullard, such a bleak but somewhat truthful perception.

Life is what you make it , you take the ups with the downs.

We may not matter in the large scheme of things , but the impression and memories we pass on to people around us , might last a bit longer than us. Impact someone’s life in a positive way and I would say that meant you mattered for a period of time and you mattered for something or someone, which means you mattered .

Even if its only for a brief second , you made a difference.

Well of course. But the point still remains is that regardless of what you do, what memories you create or how you influence someone, negatively or positively, in the end it means nothing. And that shouldn’t stop you from doing all the things you listed, if anything it should ENCOURAGE it, because what have you got to lose, than to try?
