THE FUTURE OF THE FORUM

Alright everyone, @Ahab and I had a conversation and came to a couple conclusions.

The first is that Illfonic likely has not the common decency to give us a heads up as to when they will shut this place down (thanks @Monsoon for bringing up this point to us). Which with the increased banning of certain characters and marketing scam bots, this is becoming a larger probability. They also restrict words that we can use.

The second conclusion was that we should do something about it. Have a contingency plan, so to speak. There are three options that we could do to preserve the perfect piece of insanity that is the forum. Those are a subreddit, a discord server, or a bootleg website version of this place. So now we ask everyone to vote to determine which form this contingency plan should take.

UPDATE: It has been confirmed that making a website is possible, so that is for sure an option. It would use the same forum maker as this one, and would function identically. Probably just without the word IllFonic in any of it for legal reasons.

And this is more of a contingency plan than an outright moving. Because IllFonic could shut this place down any day, and we both know they donā€™t have the common decency to give us a heads up.

And yes it is possible. Illfonic used a free forum maker that I can probably figure out how to use, and my halfway admin glitch lets me see the forumā€™s code. Should be as simple as copy pasting and then removing the word ā€œillfonicā€ from any of it for legal purposes

Regardless of what is chosen, I thing a sufficient title will be this:

We probably have to avoid the words IllFonic and Predator in the format of the website for legal reasons, but we should be perfectly safe to use those words in discussion on the forum.

With a generic forum building service. You can fine like 50 free forum hosting sites on the internet. That is just an option though.

but are these open source? that you can install on your own server? or are they mainly hosted?

Again how will you transfer any data to it without having a way to extract data from this fourm?

I never said I could transfer user data, I said I could transfer the setup. So it would be formatted just like it is here.

This debate is useless anyways, the discord is far in the lead on the poll.
