Well, the comics started in 2003 and the tv adaption started in 2010 if I recall.

Well what happened first for you? the comic or the tv series?

Im thinking its popularity in the comic book realm happened after the tv show. There are many things in pop culture relating to tv and film that you;d think its more about legacy of investment rather than an outright popular following from day 1.

Ok, even if they play one of Rickā€™s lines or show a still of him (unlikely, but a man can dream) Iā€™m going to lose my shit.

Similar to Madisyn. I randomly stumbled across the tv show first, and then I found out about the comics.

If I recall, Robert Kirkman was just an indy artist, getting his work published with Skybound. TWD wasnā€™t a big thing when it started. Like I know it exploded but that was after it was adapted into a tv series. Like it was already making some waves in the comics world, because of its graphic art and deep story, but it was when it transitioned to live media that it blew up and became the phenomena it has been.

like umā€¦Kickass and whats his face rules theWorld?

Well, many believe the revolver Daryl is holding in that teaser they showed at the end of the last episode is Rickā€™s. And the editors and people in charge know what theyā€™re doing, they know if they show that, people will talk. So Iā€™m pretty sure Rick will somehow be involved in this last few episodes.

I would agree. They know what theyā€™re doing. And you can bet with SDCC Iā€™m keeping my ears tuned.

There is a component to his popularity that is his legacy. But whether or not it reaches out in artistic way is yet to be recognized. a comic book writer writing in this sort is hard to figure out.
When he invests into 10 books and one of them hits a chord ā€¦well thats great. When one writer who never writes that many books is consistent like Niel Gaimen, then NG doesnā€™t even get a tv deal ā€¦well it tells you something.

Iā€™d say it does. Not just the artwork, but also the storytelling is amazing.

Yeah but after how many books? And how many books of his own investment and team?
Like did he write anything else that got recognition that wasnā€™t his team?
Not to say that his own effort with his own team wasnā€™t magic. But i think it paints a new picture for those who write for themselves.
Then i think the whole circus of comic book publishing would help I single vision make it in the world. We donā€™t get alot of talent like that.

He co-wrote invincible which hit it big. He wrote a bunch of other comics, but those 2 are what he is mainly known for, unless Iā€™m forgetting something.
