The Major Predator Issues

So I think one of the major issues with the Pred is he doesn’t have a good way to get close to the fireteam. Now, I’m talking top tier fireteams. Coordinated players of high skill working together.

When a team is working closely together it’s absolutely essential that you be able to get close enough be able to look for an opening. I’m not talking about right on top of them, but close enough to be able to see who is where and doing what. Problem is that high level teams will be wearing headsets and pinpointing you in the trees instantly from all the noise you’re making. But going in on the ground isn’t an option either because of the sound of your footsteps, in addition to losing a view of the battlefield and completely defeating the purpose of getting close.

The Predator needs to be able to get close enough to get a view of the battlefield and look for an opening. If he can’t do this, then he can’t plan his attack, and against a high skill team, he’s gonna get melted.

So I don’t think we need more health, or damage, or resistance anymore. With maybe the exception being number 1 below. I think it’s working with some of the mechanics to make the Pred a little more effective, while still giving both sides a fighting chance.

  1. Look into increasing bullet damage falloff against the Predator if he’s not within a certain distance. Especially things like shotguns, pistols, and smgs. Assault rifles a little bit. The fewer weapons in a loadout that can hit hard at long range the better. Obviously the Pred should be vulnerable up close. But at a distance he shouldn’t be chipped away so much he has to run away and heal. Snipers are ok because they aren’t as useful up close.

  2. Pred noise in the trees needs to be 86’d. At the very least, toned WAY down. We need to be able to stalk our prey and set up an ambush, not get instantly shot in the face when we get closer than 300 meters. There are plenty of things that give away our position at range as it is. Aiming laser, arrow trails, etc. I’d be fine also just removing the direct spot entirely. Keeping the general spot, just not highlighting the Pred. Noise on the ground is fine because that’s when the Predator should be very dangerous. The fireteam needs to be able to react quickly against a melee rush because…

  3. Parry needs a further nerf. You shouldn’t be able to parry more than 2 times before running out of stamina, and YOU SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PARRY IF YOUR STAMINA IS EMPTY. I still don’t understand people who are happy with parry where it is. Bottom line, the fireteam can shred the Predator without parry. You don’t need it at all, so there should be no reason not to restrict it.

And, the fireteam has guns. They can do a lot of damage really fast. The Pred needs to be dangerous up close, while being vulnerable (which he is) but you shouldn’t be able to bully him. One or two parrys should be enough time for your fireteam to come help. If it’s not, then you weren’t staying together and the Pred should be able to punish you for that.

  1. I personally think we need to look at how mud works heat vision. Currently, players who are mudded up are virtually invisible in heat vision. Maybe make them just a bit, A BIT easier to see. It still prevents them being marked, and it still shuts down isolation. Still hard to see, just not invisible. Right now a mudded fireteam member in heat vision is more invisible than a cloaked Predator…

  2. On screen noise indicators should be more prevalent in heat vision. If a fireteam member is firing and you can hear it in your headphones it should show up on screen. At the very least it should show within a greater distance. This would be an alternative to altering the visibility of mudded up soldiers. At least you could get a SENSE of where people are even if you can’t see them.

  3. Slow down the fireteam. They are way too fast. They can outrun melee attacks. They can chase down the Predator on foot if he’s trying to retreat (this is the biggest issue causing FIRETEAM: HUNTING GROUNDS) and they just fly across the map completing objectives and getting reinforcements before the Predator has time to do anything. They need to be slowed down a little. And knowing they can’t as easily hunt down the Pred means they’ll focus on the mission.

I think making these changes would make an impact in top level play, without making life too terrible for noobs. Pretty please and thank you!

yep… spam spotting needs to go

Honestly the more I think about it the more I’d be fine just removing the direct spot. Keep the eyeball, but lose the highlighting. If a team is communicating they should be able to find the Pred quickly enough by looking at the general spot.

Even if you’re not on headset and you see that eyeball you know somethings up.

Spotting a person in real life doesn’t work that way anyway. You call out a general area and the person still has to find the target. Narrowing it down is fine, but I don’t think we need the direct spot.

yep

If you have trouble finding muddy FT players, you have a perk which allow you to see their footsteps with the thermal vision. That said, i have never tried it.

I’ve got enough trouble without having to give up a perk slot just to find the fireteam lol

Yeah, either the Predator needs a speed boost for meleeing or the FT needs to slow the frack down. Trying to aim a ranged weapon at them is basically impossible. Also, yeah spam spotting needs to be addressed. I haven’t had it happen to me a lot, but I know a ton of people are complaining about it. I just had a match were the FT were hunkered down in a building and just had a guy on the roof spamming spot.

Yeah the melee is ridiculous. They can just run away and you’ll whiff your attacks. Unless you attack, run, attack, run, attack, run. The TTK makes it impossible for close combat unless the person is completely cut off from the team. Even then they can just back up and hip fire. You’ll only hit like every 3 attacks and eat a ton of damage. I’m not saying you should be able to juts dive into the fireteam and go to town. But if a member breaks off and is alone, at least 30 feet away and around a corner you should be able at least down him before the team shows up.

So basically you want to just run in as a tank… you already can. The predator has too much health. It’s completely unrealistic. I’ve not been on one fireteam where we beat the predator.

I’ve killed preds, been killed as a pred. Hes not over powered

Funny, not a single thing I said in the post supports this.

I would agree that the ineffectiveness of Predators stealth and ability to deal ranged punishment without instantly giving your position away makes it almost impossible to “win” against a vigilant FT spot spamming. So if I get one or two of those guys I’m good with that. It is awfully frustrating downing them multiple times and not being able to finish them off. Revive is…retarded. Being able to revive 3 times is horrendous. You know what we call zero health? Fucking DEATH.
