THE PREY OFFICALLY TRAILER RELEASED!!!
Lets also remember that the Predator follows all the monster/creature movie rules of film ever, they lose in the end. Sure, they can come back somehow, either as a new individual or plot reasons such as Jason being immortal or Freddy regaining his powers back, but its been the standard since film making began. I can see it happen in a way where like Ahab finds what he wants and survives the events of Fire and Stone/Life and Death.
I mean Naru is basically the final girl archetype like you see in horror/slasher films, why should this be any different? Because it makes the Predator looks weak, in compared to what like all the other past monster icons that lost to humans that are lesser to them by comparison? Big whoop honestly.
But yeah, the Predator winning or losing isnât a big deal in the grand scheme of things within the context of monster/creature films, thatâs just how this cookie crumbles.
Dude slashers never die, thatâs why the genre was so great; it was the humans that always died every movie with the bad guy getting away or not actually being dead.
Every predator dies, itâs just that new ones take their place⊠only to keep dying to humans.
There needs to be at least one movie where a predator succeeds. They donât have to blow up the earth, just accomplish their hunt and fly off listening to like the mortal kombat song or something cool like that. Maybe sandstorm.
Agreed
Blup! Thereâs another one!
Bloop!
Blorp!
people rooted for the counselors in jason movies?
rly? Its a slasher youâre just there to watch people die. It was called torture porn for the longest time.
I get like SAW because its practically a battle royale. But Friday?
Tommy Jarvis.
Thatâs more like a healthy rivalry subplot that developed because they needed more to it as a franchise.
The thing modern horror sequels do where they bring nostalgiabait characters back with a shotgun is awful.
Everyone started doing it.
Bleep!
Ok yeah that does sound cool, I like how it would drive off in its ship with a cold on one the left claw, and the newly acquired skull of the protag on the right, blasting that mortal kombat theme.
But still, you canât deny that slashers keep getting punked by teenagers most of the time, even if they do come back from the dead or escape to kill another day. Doesnât make them any less for it, in the same manner why it doesnât make the Predator any less when it dies to a human. Reason why they want to hunt us is cuz we are so damm good at killing, hence why they keep coming back for more even if we keep killing them. Would it be ballsy if they won in the next film after Prey? Sure I would be down to see the Pred win for once, Iâm not arguing against that.
Now I do wonder how they can pull that off without making the audience feel like they were cheated, cuz I guess this is just the minority and most folks wanna see the good guys win. Everyone hates to see their main hero fall and lose the story, so its either flawless execution or people leaving with a sour taste in their mouths. I mean look how they killed off John Connor in Dark Fate, after all of that in T2 just to get gunned down in 5 minutes of Dark Fate. Couldnât even go with the mentor route with Dani, like pass the torch kind of story, nah just kill the kid. That shit was pure acid to my eyes, and pretty much the audience also hated that shit too.
Blerg!
Bah!
Sneh!
I donât think thatâs ever been the slasher audience, maybe stuff like home invasion movies that go either way.
But with the supernatural icons Slashers usually make the whole cast unlikeable generic fodder, so thereâs no sense of justice. Occassionally you get that guy that hops out his truck and starts trying to box Leatherface and does surprisingly ok until he gets his kneecaps busted but thats just there to give you a false sense of hope against impossible odds because its theatre & you want some variety to the kill count.
