Invincible and The Boys fit this category. Ennis is an edgelord, if people think the show is bad. Invincible pulls its punches compared to the comic.
Brightburn was cool. Gunn should do more cape horror.

I watched that movie on a whim and ended up really liking it. I skipped it at first because there was another movie about mirrors out with Kiefer Sutherland and it sucked so I figured thatâd suck too. It was especially good because it sealed the brothers fate as a nut job. The hopelessness was delicious.
God knows as soon as thereâs one hit movie like that itâll be all we get from Hollywood for a decade.
Havenât seen either of those. I did rip brightburn recently and was surprised how far they went with it⌠Iâd watch a sequel for sure.
Pretty skippable, Invincible is better to read 100% and takes awhile to pick up, more or less a deconstruction of gohan. Boys S1 might be worth a watch but its downhill from there.
Not at all, modern writers seek to tear down the heroic figure, the ideal & aesop. They wish to spread nothing but misery through their constant attempts to âgroundâ fiction and âsubvert expectationsâ. They believe that any form of unironic happiness in a storyâs themes or ending is outdated. They do not believe in anything of virtue & they are talentless & joyless hacks who infect everything they touch.
I recall the virtues stories once stood for, I recall the struggles & the things we once could write. I remember the lessons passed on, so I reject this for now and for always.
Ehh I feel like theyâre moreso trying to change what we would naturally consider heroic, or pass the torch per se to the ânewâ hero archetype which youâre right, hasnât been very heroic lately.
Iâm not sayin no more heroes or good guys winning⌠just gimme some soul crushing inevitable fates again so those happy endings are more appreciated and inspiring than stale.
A good tragic ending is always appreciated. Look at Halo Reach. 10/10, you know from the start how it ends. But the moment stories like that become the norm, is when shit is ruined. And that is the problem, this is becoming the new normal.
Does master chief get naked in halo reach? Iâve only seen the show so I assume we see lots of ass, right?
Oh jesus fucking christ no way youâve only seen that shit show⌠I actually want to throw up reading this. You could be experiencing something actually kinoâŚ

Halo plots are much better when we arenât following John Halo Franchise Icon. Whenever writers reach a dead end with [franchise icon] in anything we get this thing where they write them into a life crisis and make them depressed to le humanize them.
And then of course replace them with another character after they help them resolve their life crisis arc.
It sucks.
Just give me random teams of special ops covenant and special ops ODSTs and spartans assassinating eachother.
