According to this and I know it’s not a definitive source but the director of AvP designed the Shuriken off of the smart disc. I apologize to anyone I mislead into thinking Shuriken was an entirely different weapon.

Still i would like them to make shurikens kinda have their own pre set heat seeking mechanic… so it kinda like gives that vibe its different than smart disc in that sense but it still like an unique weapon predator can use… and i would also want it to have special stealth kill option where u can cut people in half with it… the AI should be able to be cut in half automatically lol…
But yeah the heat seeking part it should go for its closest target or follow like closest biggest thermal heat group…
my two cents:
technically a shuriken is flung from its central rotational gimbal area. Its not thrown like the smart disk like a the disk in the olympic sport its literally a ‘ninja star’ so its probably should feel less heavy and at first should be aimed for the intention on speed at a particular target.
that said, maybe it should have a rebounding effect and heat seek to the nearest person if they are in the landed spots radius. Otherwise, if the person is too far from that radius it should rebound out of control or not at all.
