I will try to remain as objective and constructive as possible in this breakdown of the Battle Axe.
First, let me say that the secondary/heavy attack is really good where it is right now. The one problem I have with it is the hit tracking system. When trying to strike FT, it hits any gear like heals first, and somewhat often when it visually hits a FT member, the hit boxes do not register. I think a general improvement to melee tracking and hit registration would not only improve the battle axe greatly, but most other melee weapons.
The primary/light attack is what I think needs the most work. Currently, the animation causes the Predator to stand relatively still and swing. The vast majority of the time these hits miss because of this. I think that the Predator should lunge forward a bit more on his primary attack with the axe, and as long as hit registration and tracking is good, this would make the Battle Axe really good. An alternative fix would be to speed up the animation of the more lunge is not implemented. Regardless, I think that these improvements to the battle axe would make it a great weapon in game, and I think that this would align with how the community thinks about the battle axe.
What do you all think? Is this in the realm of possibility to do?

I’d fuse the heavy attack into the last combo of the light attack.
Let us throw and catch it like a bangarang for the secondary attack like how it worked in God of War 4 and I will be a very happy man.
Does the heavy swing attack include a jump?
From the video above, i can see this jump feature can attack a FT member on the run from you easily.

The heavy attack is the overhead swing. It does a lot of damage, but has hit tracking and registration issues at the moment, however despite that the secondary is really good at the moment.
The only way yo use it effectively is to use traps, trap 1 and then use the heavy attack.
It looks like a pain to use unless you have got the FT target unaware.

At this point I think they are balancing around PS potatoes. After the cloak buff I was SURE they are going to do something stupid, it was far to powerful for casuals on PS. The axe works fine of them, the problems arises when you find someone that is even a bit decent at the game and then you can’t hit shit, just circle the predator and he can’t hit you.
I wanted to play more against preds with the axe and the new class… Problem is I’ve only found 1 yesterday. A new class and so few peopel play it… Illfonic really screwed it badly this time.
I’ve been trying to use the axe more and I’ve been doing alright with it, haven’t lost yet but the tracking on the weapon definitely needs tuning alongside the hit boxes. Damage wise this things a beast.
