To buy from a PS5 from a scalper or not

Part of it is tempting. I have checked every store including online and they are sold out within a 50 mile radius everywhere where I live in Oregon other than the scalpers. Mind you, scalper prices have started to drop in my area due to no one is willing to buy from them and then Sony has stated they would be pushing 10 million units to help curve them.

Few in my areas dropped their price from $1500 to $750 and others from $750 to $440 being the lowest for the digital version only which when you figure in the taxes is the same price MSRP.

Mind you some are still being stubborn trying to charge more, but my goal will be to find one and give them an offer and if they say no be like okay good luck getting one sold and having 20+ units no one will buy from you. Simply put better to break even than to go negative I’d say.

But, what is everyone’s opinion on this and what would you do? I would preorder from Sony, but they are currently so far on backstock that they are unavailable to do so. I was lucky enough to find an Xbox Series S in a Wal-Mart before they said they’d no longer have them in stores.

My area will sadly be one of the last to receive any due to I live in Hermiston, OR and even Tricities, Washington has none and I’ve been to every store that would carry them in a 50 mile radius and spent hours online checking everywhere.

Even if I buy one for 440 I basically bought it outright from a store with taxes

Wish it wasn’t this way though, but mostly due to Covid causing production to be down has caused it to be a scalper haven

What is the difference between a pro and base model? Other than $200 extra tacked onto the disc drive version

Wait for ps5 pro…

Has to be on some level better since a ps5 doesn’t seem to be really pushing the boundaries of much.

And even waiting not like I’d be expecting the pro to come out for another 3 years after original console release similar to the xbox one slim and so on when they started making different variations

That has yet to be determined

But needless to say games will look and run best on the pro

Personally I’m waiting for second gen PS5’s, the Pro is still to far out.

Wouldn’t buy from a scalper as that just feeds the problem.

Please don’t become apart of that statistic! Just be patient and PS5’s will be available throughout the year. It’s only a matter of time until (if they haven’t already) the scalpers can’t simply buy anymore if people just don’t buy from them. We (the real gamers and rightful consumer’s) have the power to change this completely it just takes Patience. Don’t spend your hard earned cash, and especially up to 3x the market price for something that isn’t actually going into the right people’s pockets. It’s sick to let these people buy 10+ consoles to only hold them hostage from people who actually want them.
All I’m saying is just wait a little bit into the new year and you’ll be able to no problem get one online.
