TRASH TALKING

I’ve seen them, not lately though, thank god. I usually see random building campers, or Supports who will hide in that one room in the main complex of HQ, and just drop all their ammo and health bags and squat there. I had a game like, two months ago where that exact thing happened. I was on FT, two others were Supports, and they just went into that room and dropped like six health bags and seven ammo bags all over. Me, being a little bish, and while they were watching and cussing me out (“WE FUCKIN NEED THAT BRO WTFFFFFF”), would grenade myself with the Hammerhead launcher, heal, take ammo, and repeat until pretty much all the bags were gone.

Yeah, they quit.

The thing is we know the reasons why Illfonic balance the games they do. If you take them on their word that is, personally I think they just have a bias and suck at the game so they balance a lot of FT stuff around buffing themselves so they don’t lose as much… but anyways

According to the Devs, they balance around the Win/Loss Data. And that W/L is apparently a clean 50/50 between Pred & FT. I find that fucking bullshit, ESPECIALLY because they have said they count Predator Bombs going off, even if FT are still alive, as a Predator victory. Considering MOST players don’t fucking bother to Defuse, no shit a lot of bombs go off.

Illfonics sense of balance is around making the most brain dead players feel powerful regardless of how that affects skilled play. There’s no easy way of balancing a 4v1 assym game but them not listening to feedback and just shooting themselves in the foot hasn’t helped.

You play carelessly against tough teams because you think at at least you give yourself a chance as opposed to playing safe but still losing in the end?

pretty much. My goal is to at least kill/claim one player

Not everybody wants to learns and play in a certain manner. Most people probably want to play casually come what may. Then they get pissed at Preds who play tactically cause they have no answers to that. There’s a disconnect there.

Agreed. If you don’t risk it, nothing will happen. When you at least make it 3 V1, FT will have to think about reinforcement. That extends play and tension for both and makes the game enjoyable.

I have a bad habit of taking most matches seriously. It stems from my tryhard days when I was still a potato but wanted to win so badly. But lately its been different, like a lot of the shit I pull is trolly and humorous, if anything for my benefit.

Yeah back when I was actually competing with others and wanted to be a known name in the ranks of the 10%, I was pretty fucking sweaty. Then the last update happened, we got the worst showing of Wolf ever and after 3, THREE, Months of “We’re looking at balancing, we’re gonna change the game up” only to get a slightly better Pistol and nothing else… yeah that broke me and I just gave up. What’s the point. Spent 8 months training & competing, spent 8 months getting in with the main elite group, getting to play with people like Gesp, Thunder & Sam, etc. Had my tryhard times, had my good laughs, got praise & admiration from some people & got hate from others. I feel fulfilled enough. Nothing else to do but just sit back and watch the shitshow that is the current game now.

And nobody should feel forced to play that way especially in a casual game however, since there’s no ranking system/skill based matchmaking it’s all just a mixed bag of brain dead easy or people that know the most absolutely broken meta shit that will stomp you in seconds.

Yup, but I think the game was intended to be played a certain way and there has to be some baseline. Perhaps it’s illfonic’s fault for not establishing it. After that the casual players took over and all Illfonic can do is same superficial changes, but that’s just a bandaid cause that’s not how the game was to be played at it’s core.

They are in nomans land and in order to set things right, you have to establish baseline for play. It might be too late tho as the potato base is effectively holding them hostage in this respect. They don’t want to risk losing everything so that’s how things are

What they intended vs what they’ve actually implemented are two vastly different things unfortunately.

I spent a too much time defending these Devs, in retrospect. They have only themselves to blame for how the balance & gameplay loop of the game has turned out. We told them for a year and a half “We NEED more stealth options, we NEED more gear, we NEED LESS Damage buffs & things that either improve survivability or force the Fireteam to play as a co-ordinated team, not Rambos: and there needs to be incentive to use more than the same 4 weapons on BOTH sides.”

We got Wolf but even putting aside how SHIT the model is. He didn’t even give us any more Gear, the thing that Predators DESPERATELY need. Where are his Mines. The tripwire & lassos to pull FT up into trees or rooftops. Nothing, we got nothing.

There’s that too, but somehow the more dedicated players still figured it out and plsy as intended. It takes effort than not every player will give. Plus the game was often glitchy, buggy

I think much of the game was preplanned in advance very rigidly and it was unrealistic to do a rehaul.

It’s weird how the game is pretty complex, but still there are very limited option as to builds and play styles. OP builds dominate too much.

Then that plan was shit from the start and they know less about the Universe then they proclaim.

This game should never have turned into a DPS race between both sides. It should never have been one side with Hitscan vs the other with Projectiles. It should have always been a game of cat & mouse in the Jungle, with varied stealth & ambush options for both sides.

Maybe, they overestimated the determination of casual gamers. They probably though that IP would hold more people but it didn’t

Perhaps ghost hunters will be made with that intention. But I’ve watched a few vids of midnight ghost hunt and already there are a few broken builds that will have the ghost wining outright. There are ways to counter, but it takes team play. I feel like every asymmentic may be plagued but expectations if team play.

I’ll tell you like the moment to me that probably cemented “Yeah they have no fucking idea what to do with this game.” and it was Night mode.

Night mode was THE moment to turn the game around. It was the biggest chance of that year to do something that would change the course of the game. And it was not to just make it a slight variation of Hunt, where for some reason its even EASIER for FT to track & outmanoeuvre the Pred.

Ya know what Night Mode should’ve been. THEIR LAST FUCKING GAME. You just take the fucking idea behind Friday the 13th’s main game mode, and PUT IT IN THIS. No Missions, no Objectives. You are FT stuck in the Jungle at Night time and have to stealth your way around the map to find enough hidden pieces to repair some form of transport out of the area, be it a Jeep or a Chopper. And all that time, the Predator is a scary force out in the Jungle that has the cover of darkness to assault you from anywhere.

We even found a fucking file in the game that was just that “Your chopper has been shot down, something lurks in the Jungle. Survive the night or find a means to escape.”

If we got THAT, this game could’ve been saved IMO. It wouldn’t have been an immediate fix, the bigger problems rely upon how fucked Damage is. But it would’ve shown they KNEW, and know what direction game needed to take.

DPS race makes the game fun for ransoms. You get fast results and feeling of accomplishment. If all else fails, that is the last solution to keep player.
