A but off. The sound matter more for other types of music: rock, blues, pop, metal. For rap it’s more about the words.
I do agree about the syllable, but here’s something weird i found (last paragraph)
In music the sound does in my opinion set the mood of the song whatever genre then the lyrics come into it and you then get a better understanding of the song. Or am I wrong?

May be. Not too oversimplify this, but for rap you need the beat and it flows. For other music it’s harder to match up. I think for instance rock bands write a tune and then place words on top of that. But i could be wrong

Honestly depends. Some people could get motivated about something than write the words, then try to find a sound for it.
I think that happens more, but I would say it depends on the artist.
Like I think maybe celldweller does his music first then the vocals and lyrics. I could be wrong tho.
Like for me, lyrics, writing not really my thing, so if I made music I would make purely instrumental.

Rock mostly. Some metal, but not death metal cause i find that theres too much dissociation between the instrumental and vocals (instrumental is awesome by vocals kill it in my opinion). But certain R&B is pretty chill. I can listen to blues. Pop is ok depending on the mood.

It’s all subjective in a sense that it all just depends.
Like theres a cover band called the megas who add lyrics to megaman songs. One of my favorites, but you gotta really be a megaman fan to enjoy it.
Theres a lot like that too which I enjoy, but it all depends on how well they pull it off.
Honestly i dont like rap covers, most tend to be extremely lame as they take the generic rap approach.
No real word play or anything interesting with the lyrics.

Agreed. It’s all subjective. I do love word play a lot. For certain songs that resonated with me i put lyrics related to PHG. I do enjoy stuff like that, but it comes and goes. Something has to happen to get me in the mood and the words just flow. First draft is not that good, but it’s like 70%. After that sometimes the motivation to do the other 20-30% is kinda lacking, but i still really like being in the moment.
So far my rap is very simple. I need to stumble on a way to make it more complex but still flow. Maybe in time
