Ultimate Scout Laser Rifle: Predator Weapon Suggestion

First post on the forum so I thought that I would throw out a possible weapon suggestion. I think it may have been mentioned once before but I can’t quite remember. I think this weapon could help some of the issues that predators have been having at low and high level gameplay dealing with sniper rifles. Also, I think that it could add another range dynamic that the predator didn’t have against the FT’s sniper rifle gameplay.

So lets get into the ultimate scout plasma rifle!

Here is what the rifle would look like and its relative proportions. I know NECA and Illfonic have a pretty good relationship based on Alpha Predator so asking it to be put into the game might not be too much of a stretch.

Next, stats of the weapon. (This is up to discussion for damage numbers, I’m just throwing out some possible numbers.) (Need to keep down range bonus in mind.)

I think predators need a hit scan so I would like to make this gun hit scan.

Weapon Usage and Ammo System:

Personally, I don’t think that the plasma pistol ammo system will work with this weapon so I suggest that its linked to the main energy system of the predator. This could allow for some checks and balances on the weapon and make sure that its not completely broken.

I would treat this weapon as a rail gun. It needs some sort of a charge system before being able to fire. While aiming down sight need 3-5 seconds to charge the gun. When it fires the rifle drains half if not the whole energy bar causing a overload on the predator. I think it should completely drain the energy bar because it has the potential to down a FT instantly and almost no risk. It also would give the FT a location after the shot. Perks could negate this downtime and maybe grant a second shot on the lower health predator classes that have higher energy pools.

Follow up for the predator would obviously be slightly more difficult because they wouldn’t have cloak, vision, or the plasma caster. They could only reliably use other weapon they have equipped. But, this would balance the power of the weapon.

I would like to see some suggestions to give the FT a chance to see this coming. Maybe have a sniper glint on the rifle or a laser sight like the plasma caster.

EDIT Suggestions:

Remove hit scan, but make it faster than plasma caster. Bow speed maybe?

Reduce damage on the weapon but give more shots (Should still be linked to energy system and cause an overload.)

Base if three shots are allowed:
45 Body shot? 49 with down rage
50 Head Shot? 55 with down range

But, I’m not a lore master by any stretch.

A one shot hit scan weapon for the Predator? I can hear the cries of Pred OP already.
I dunno…gut reaction is I don’t like it but I’ve been asking for the shoulder PC to go back to one hit down so it almost seems hypocritical of me.
The only thing I would do is give an audio cue of charging, no visible. This way FT hears it they know to find cover.

I think a audio cue would be really important. But, I want to make a weapon that is terrifying to go against in the right hands but gives a good chance to dodge or escape. I think body shot could be lowered a bit for damage.

Predator will be melted since a sniper takes time to aim…He usually is never standing still which makes him so hard to find. This will undoubtly make him very vulnerable.

Your suggestions are extremely overpowered.

Its up to discussion and I’m okay if people think that. It needs checks and balances so I want other people’s opinion.

Bolts move faster than plasma caster

3 hits to down support with thick skin

4 shots before recharge which takes a little bit

Maybe pre cloak rework. If the ADS is even close to what FT has you can park 100m out and play sniper just like FT used to. Definitely see some abuse here

Okay, I’d be okay with removing the hit scan on the weapon. But, if it can down a support with think skin in three shots. I would only like the weapon to be able to shoot three times. Make predators actually have to hit their shots. Would it still run on the energy bar? I would think that we need to stay away from the ammo system.

Yeah the numbers are pretty high I’ll knock them down.

A plasma sniper would be interesting. Maybe it could have a 5 round mag, and you can charge it for greater velocity but not much more damage.

I would also like to see the avp2 speargun as well.

Plasma rifle

  • 6 round mag
  • firerate equal to plasma pistol
  • uncharged: 40 damage, Charged bow velocity
  • charged: 70 damage, 1.50 x charged bow velocity
  • 2 x magnification

Spear gun

  • 5 round repeatable
  • reloads one bolt at a time like a shotgun
  • 45 damage
  • velocity equal to charged bow velocity
  • 2 x magnification
