I LOVE predator. Favorite movies, favorite character. I just dont know alot about the game and want insight from a vast amount of players. Anything would be appreciated. What does everyone think.

Iām a huge Alien and Predator fan. I purchased the game on PC, preordered as soon as I played during the trial weekend. Since launch Iāve played a little bit every single day, Iām currently rank 92, soon to be 100. Itās clear Iām definitely enjoying it, haha. :D
Since launch this is all Iāve played with a dash of Final Fantasy 7 Remake here and there.
That being said, the game definitely has its issues and is far from perfect. But Iām still really enjoying it and what it has to offer. Since release theyāve dropped 3 patches, and a 4th is surely coming soon. Thereās also planned future content coming, though we currently donāt know what it looks like.
The game definitely has cool little details and attention to Predatorās source material, much like how Friday the 13th was handled.
If you can put up with some bugs and they wonāt affect your experience, Iād say get the game. If thatās not the case, well then maybe you should wait a little bit.
Iād highly recommend watching some Twitch streams or YouTube videos to help make your decision.
I will say it sounds like the PS4 version is dealing with a few more noticeable bugs than PC, just throwing that out there. But it will all get better with time.

If you liked the movies you will probably like the game it probably the closest thing you can get to making a good Predator game that is PVP. Its not a perfect game but honestly any issues I have with it personally I can see just being fixed with patches.

The game is balanced right now, maybe need one por two tweaks but thatās it. Itās loyal to Predators lore. Matchmaking for Predator is the only real issue, but thatās it.
Most important of all, the game is FUN, I havent stopped playing since release tbh.

If you are a Predator fan (keep in mind - the original P1 and P2) than this game is not an āifā - its a bloody MUST. Probably the best canon game ever made.
If you are not that much in to original Predator lore, generally like avp predators more, looking for a AAA complex multiplayer game then its a no

Seriously, I love the gameā¦ try not to pay too much attention to the forumsā¦ youāll see both sides complaining saying that both sides need a buff and that the other side need a nerfā¦
Been playing since the beta and Iāve been enjoying it a lotā¦ playing as both as Predator and FT is really rewardingā¦ I recommend you to watch some streamers or even videos on youtube of people performing wellā¦ the game is at its best when both teams are competentā¦ when FT is lackingā¦ predators just have an easy time picking them off, when the pred is incompetentā¦the match usually ends up really quick.
There are several fun builds to try, my favorite as predator is the Scout with Bow / Netgun or Netgun / Combistick on Hunter (will let you choose perks, it depends on your playstyle but I really love the long jump + cooling syncs + shoot down)
As FT I usually go for the GOSLR or however itās spelled, the Assault rifle with a Pump Shotgun / or the Revolver for secondaryā¦ itās the playstyle I have most fun withā¦ donāt quite enjoy the sniper even though it is satisfactory to use it sometimes. The class I prefer is also the Scout or Recon, they are considerably faster with lesser health than assault or support. If you decide to play as FT, keep in mind that the āTeamā is the keyword there, play like one, try to stick together and always be on the watch to help a fellow member, cover each other and you might make it to the chopper.
As the predatorā¦ use decoys, traps, jumps, plasma cannon, surprise attacks to force the FT to use their supplies, if you down someone and let their friends pick them upā¦ and eventually lower their HP under 50% (or 30%) you can perform a āStealth Killā on a FT memberā¦ and let me tell ya, itās really satisfactory when you pull that off.
Its a good game full of fun if you lvl 100 with upgrades not for low lvl players because theres an ingame predator ability though were the predator player can locate you within seconds of joining the match on his ridiculous tracking isolation vision before you even have time to mud up and enjoy player predators are on you in 3-4 minutes to slaughter you, personally save your money mate and wait to see what direction this is going cause right now its a predator spoon feed that needs going from ingame, lol there needs to be changes.

Iām going to explain to you the state of the game as good as I can, and Iāll tell you what to expect.
Iām a level 100 āveteranā. I have all weapons at maximum level, all customization unlocked for the FT and all but a few for the Predator. So I have somewhat of a history with this game. I have played the trials version and have played since launch.
Predator Hunting Grounds is a very fun game that offers a whole new experience for some players. But it easily gets boring. Because you basically do the same thing over and over again, drop into South African, do a mission and kill the Predator or escape. This is the only gameplay mod right now.
It gets repetitive fast, first 0-50 levels are fine, but after that thereās not much to earn or unlock.
I mean, it is repetitive for me but Iām still playing it because itās fun.
If you are eager to play as the Predator, get back in line because thereās 4-6 minutes to wait to play as the Predator, while match takes from 2-10 minutes to finish. Sometimes even longer if the Predator is doing nothing or the FT is completely blind. FT waiting time is 0-40 seconds. Always.
There is a matchmaking bug right now, that places you endlessly at the end of the waiting line, so if you see the timer going after the āestimated waiting timeā for too long, cancel and search again, thatās the only fix right now.
There are 3 Predator variations: Scout, Hunter and Berzerker. (fast-versatile-aggressive)
There are 4 FT members: Scout , Assault , Recon and Support (fast-versatile-stealth-tank)
There have been 3 patch hotfixes since launch (3 hotfixes in 12 days if I remember correctly). Patch 1.04 , 1.05 and 1.06. So devs are working fast, to be honest.
Patch 1.06 focused on the waiting time so if you think now itās bad, you shouldāve seen 1.04 and 1.05.
Thatās basically it.
TL;DR
Game is fun, but gets repetitive.
Long Predator waiting times and short FT waiting times.
Matchmaking bug that gets fixed by canceling search and starting a new search.
Not too many items (+customizations) in-game.
3 hotfixes so far. Developers are listening to us and their working ASAP but are too silent. Check their Twitter from time to time.
I hope this helps you to chose what to do with the game! But as I said, itās really fun to play, gets repetitive, but if it doesnāt bother you, youāre gonna keep playing it because itās fun.
Btw āno preferenceā when matchmaking is bad. I always end up as FT and never played as the Predator because of it, and Iām ok with it. Iām not gonna wait 5 mins for a match that ends in 5 mins. So if you want to play as Predator, just pick Predator. Remember that Iām level 100 and played since day one and No preference never picked me as the Predator, only FT.
And the game is literally like the movie from '87.

Iām a huge fan of The Predator IP, and have a nostalgic affinity for this game because of that.
The game is far from perfect, but if you enjoyed Predator: Hunting Groundsā predecessor Friday the 13th or like PVP then youāll most-likely enjoy the game.
Also if you like first-person-shooters youāll probably have fun as the fire team where you complete missions, face the Predator and try to āGet to the Choppa!ā
One of the aspects that illfonic nailed was the tone of the first film from cutscenes as your fire team repels in, to the musical score, to lastly the Foley sound effects of the Predator and things like its thermal vision.
The Predator has a steep learning curve to be successful at vanquishing a full fire team, and itās something that becomes better with practice and unlocks. So donāt expect to spawn as the Predator and just own, youāll need to learn what works for you from: Predator class selection, to weapons, to gear and perks.
Hope this helps guide your decision on whether to purchase the game or not.
if you are gonna get the game for PC I must warn you that you should not play as a predator untill you unlock berserker and the combistick, and dont think you can just rush in because they will ABSOLUTELY reck you, I normaly play as fireteam and has gotten abit a flack for my stands on some of the aspeckts of pred, but thats mostly because I play on PS4 and the game (I at least think) is best ballanced there, sure it has its render issues, but it is harder to hit the predator and makes it more fun for them to fight as they dont lose 50% of their health bar because they stood still for 3 seconts (form 1 guy with a sniper!!!), so yeah I will say in my opinion get it for PS4 if you have one otherwise you are gonna have a bad time as the pred and a boring time as the FT (fireteam)
and if you get it on PS4, dont just rush in, weaken them with your plasma caster (you can fully charge for some splash damage to spread them out so you can target the onces who are alone) and then only commit to melee if they are weak (as they can parry you, but you can learn to time your swings so they wiff their parryās, but it takes abit to learn)
hope this will help you, and dont get me wrong I love the game, it just has a long way before it is perfecktly balanced (as it is hard to balance a 1V4 game, or at least I think so)
My advice, dont buy it. It has VERY little to offer in the longterm department, it gets stale fast. Illfonic is silent, thats the worst part, its almost as if they are just gonna do the occasional patch here and there, i dont even think we will see new maps.
Look up some reviews, because this forum is basicly in a ābalancingā war the last few days, and that means something isnt right,and it isnt.
Its fun when it works, but it doesnt have much to offer. Think Sea of Thieves at launch, thats where this is at. Cosmetics are not exciting, very basic stuff and mostly recolors, and the Predator gameplay can be incredibly clunky, everything from basic movement, leaping and aiming, it works 70% of the time, and the matchmaking is the worst i have ever seen.
Good for a couple hours, until you(hopefully) realize there isnt much to see. Im probably gonna get attacked by the typical fanwanks on this forum, just how things work, but seriously, this game is not worth 40 bucks, more like 25.

I too am a big fan of the movies. Game is definitely worth it. Minus the generic look of the fire team, it has the feel of the movie. Music is awesome.

Im usually quite forgiving if a game has good gameplay, and this does, but theres just something wrong with it. Im sick of the maps, for starters, i cant play anymore. Im sick of the clunky Predator controls, getting stuck on TINY geometry like tires, rocks etc. Im sick of not beeing able to remap my keys, switch SHOULDER VIEWā¦and the trees are horrible to navigate, and even worse to get off when you need to in a hurry. I hate the weapon wheel, it has a mind of its own and prefers to fuck me over when im in a hurry,3 times in a row, and finding a emptry lobby as predator 4 times in a row is just /ragequit.
Nowā¦they said they have a ācontentā patch comingā¦it better be good.
If you play Fireteam, which is what I do with my friends (Iāve yet to play Predator, though played as it during beta), you will have a lot of fun. Nothing quite beats hunting the hunter but I think that is also where the problems are. Iāve got a little bit bored of the game over the last few days because my team and I are finding it too easy to kill the Predator. We are talking 30 to 40 games until we lose a game.
It should be difficult to kill the Pred like it was trying to kill Jason in F13th, but here it is too easy to kill it unless the Predator is a Bezerker class (a grind to unlock for Pred players) and then it becomes a challenge, but it should be a challenge regardless of Predator class.
Sure the Predator always dies in the movies but only when the humans are down to the last man. The Pred in this game doesnt feel anywhere near threatening and watching a Pred die in the first few minutes isnt that uncommon, honestly it is hilarious.
Haha, weāll see! I feel like Iāve seen more people proudly shit on the game here than rage defend it. I honestly never had a problem with the Predator controls. However, I can say I think the weapon wheel needs some tuning. Itās never worked against me, but it definitely aināt perfect, haha. Yeah, Iām really eager to see what they have planned for future content. They claim to have āa lotā.
I seriously havenāt even thought about playing predator until Iāve lvl100 of fireteam. I can safely say that all my weapons for fireteam have leveled up to my peak interest and now Iām willing to wait for a predator game. I hope by now I can get in easily and play with ease and comfort knowing that my predator skills can be nurtured.
