Voter Fraud

They reelect them because they have hope, whatever large or small amount. Which is admirable, but often misplaced hope, because most people never bother to look up the voting records of their representatives. If they did, I suspect less people would get reelected.

I feel that respect for life would start the ball rolling in the right direction. Furthermore, the concept of serving one another, at the very least in our enterprises. When nearly any business owner goes into business thinking “im gonna be rich, bitch!” (And they may. Just look at Zuckerberg. Hes a total p.o.s. and got filthy rich), their business is more likely to suffer because instead of being innthe business of serving the public in whatever field they may be in, their obsession with money leads them into unethical behavior. Respect and service go hand in hand. If one has respect for their fellow man from the start, the concept of serving them and, yes, being paid for said services, becomes easier and therefore the business becomes more successful due to its great service.

For example, I’ve worked for many bad companies over the years. Companies that didn’t have service as its foundation. They failed, or had a bad enough reputation that they had to work so much harder to get new business. The bosses served themselves, not their clientele. The company I am with now was founded on serving not only the client, but also the employee, meaning we, the earliest members joined because we all came from bad companies to build something better. Both our clients and the employees reap the benefits of our founding principals of service and respect. My boss respects us enough to pay us what we’re worth and at the same time respects the client enough to give over-the-top service and that, combined with our skill set results in a better finished product. And as a result of all of that, the business is successful.

And all of those principals are vacant in politics. You have almost no one serving the people that elected them. They serve themselves and then, given enough time, the lobbyists that bought them. And that’s why I feel the way I do about them. I’ve spent over 3/4 of my life learning these lessons through very hard work. Lots and lots of failures. Enough successes to keep me going until now, but I fully understand why politics sickens so many. I’m right there too.

Now, I’m more apt to at least listen to what a veteran running for office has to say because they’re far more likely to had had their ass on the line for the nation. For their brothers and sisters in arms. I feel thats earned them my ear, at least for a little bit. I have a local congressman who was a marine, so I listened to him. Unfortunately, his positions mirrored Pelosi’s, so he did not and will never get my vote.

But people like Pelosi, Biden, Harris, etc… they’ve earned nothing from me (or anyone else for that matter) and therefore will never EVER be afforded any semblance of obedience from me. They can suck my hairy ass cheeks til their rotted, botox lips fall off.

Just like SOCIETY IN GENERAL

We cant escape the bullshit… but in the end only the next few days will tell

I agree on the service part of companies.

I still feel that politicians entering the fray earned their place there and respect of people for the most part, but the further they go the more they diverge from their core values because of munny on politics and loyalty to factions (parties). If they don’t have what it takes, someone else will. On one side it’s good that the jobs are up for reelection every few years, so bad candidates don’t stick around, on the other side it’s not good to worry about job security so often. Plus the always changing social dynamics make it hard not to waver on the issues. Also although issues are complex, they’re are forced to pledge support for or against and there is hardly ever a middle ground. Damned if if you, damned if you dont. There’s no way to tip-toe around things. There will always be people who are against you for one thing or the other. It’s a tough gig that makes people worse versions of themselves the longer there stick around.

People with good intentions don’t last very long in this profession.

No, they don’t. They either lose re-election bids or go bad. Only limits of 2 terms for every elected official will ensure the removal of the trash ones.

I feel like it was a good system, but it’s time for a change.

Our founders tried to think of everything, but they certainly could never have considered that corporations could amass such power that they could buy politicians so easily as it had never happened before. It had always been the royals running everything and buddying up with whomever was running the church at the time to legitimize their corruption. Had been that way all across Europe for centuries.

Washington tried to set the example for future leaders to self limit, but the lure of wealth and unchecked power are far too great for mere mortals who have never had any consequences to their actions. And even if their bad actions or crimes were discovered, they always had enough money to buy their way out of trouble or were allowed to resign instead of actually being punished.

I feel that instituting a 2 term limit to all elected positions and outlawing lobbyists are the first steps to returning to our first principals. When elected officials know that they will have to get a real job after leaving office, and knowing they can’t get some cushy job at a lobbying firm either, they would be far more likely to stick to the constitution and limited governmental power when it affects them after they leave office.

Only when the politicians have to actually live under rather rules that they pass will good laws be passed and enforced and bad laws be repealed.

Our system at its core is still the best there is, but it takes real discipline to make it work, and that’s what’s lacking in spades.

Agreed. It’s time to stop romanticizing the founders as all-omniacient and move ahead with the times.

Id disagree with a 2 term limit in part. If a politician is doing a good job, he/she should stay (maybe there can be a system of independent evaluation of performance)

I would set an age limit of 75 years so the older fellows stop treating the job as a pension fund

If you mean democracy, I agree whole heartedly. If you’re specifically referring to American democracy, I think you have a ways to go. Trump has highlighted a good chunk of the problems with a system that trusts the parties to not be partisan.

Y’all can’t be serious with this thread🤦🏽‍♂️

Nothing like watching Trump Supporters get pulled off flights and being put on a terrorist list and never no fly list by the fbi loo hhahahahba

Episode 4 was great. so i guess for 4 years the eldians have been building an army for the invasion

That guy crying because he can’t fly home was pretty funny.

Not that it could have been successful, but if it had I’d bet money those people would have been fine with executing anyone they think wasn’t patriotic enough. Being put on a watch list is barely a slap on the wrist by comparison, considering what could be done to traitors.

The founders did their best, given the times they lived in. Electricity in the home was still a dream at that point as was indoor plumbing, 2 (IMO wonders of the world) modern convenient necessities that have saved and improved the lives of billions. So we can’t fault them for certain shortcomings.

2 terms is the only way to ensure politicians and also the unelected beauticians can’t be entrenched. What’s more, any “board” reviewing performance would be made up of people, and people can be bought. And any algorithm written to monitor such things can be corrupted from the get go. Look at Facebook and Twitter. They have algorithms written to censor and discriminate against one side only. BLM and Antifa cannpost whatever they want regardless of how offensive or vile about anyone and it stays up. Meanwhile, Ron frickin Paul gets a ban.

Tossing them out after 2 terms also helps to ensure bad policies can be removed more easily by new members. Washington, Jefferson and Lincoln are the 3 best examples to go off of.

We are not a democracy, but a Contitutional Representative Republic. We just happen to use a democratic voting process. Most people get that wrong by accident or just don’t know any better. And yes, ours is best, or would be if elected officials would just stick the the fucking bill of rights for starters!!

That’s just one type of democracy, it’s semantics that work against your point. You can’t be the greatest at something you aren’t.

Oh boy…

4000 armed trumpers are supposed to surround congress to prevent impeachment…

If there is a battle between them and the national guard the second civil war will have officially begun
