fuckin VPNS is lame. All a VPN does is mask your ip and make them internet providers not email you when you torrent. What happens when you need to use googlemaps,huh? what then?

You should see the looks on people my ages faces when I tell them that I use a compass and map to navigate the woods in unfamiliar locations instead of google maps or my phone’s gps.
Where usually I go there aint service, which horrifies some of my more technologically dependent acquaintances that I willingly go out there alone.

i didnt say i was road incompetitant. i just said googlemaps would have to utilize your locations ip to get from a to b. and for the matter at hand, wtf would I want to waste my precious time on an old school mapbook?

I lived in Alaska for 3 years. My wife and I went on a lot of remote hikes, but I would just download all of the google map of the area we would be exploring beforehand. The GPS can still place you on the map without cell service, so it worked very well.
