Want Some Candy?

Thanks IllFonic, I actually love this addition to the game. Also, after testing Viking out a little bit more, I can say that he is not as bad as I initially thought, but still needs a few improvements. The Secondary on the axe is really good, just the primary needs a slight buff in movement speed or a slight damage reduction during swing. Note that tracking and hitting issues are a major problem with this weapon. As far as Viking’s stats go, I think his health needs to be slightly raised if he is even slower than berserker, or his stamina should be increased. A slight combination of both would probably help make Viking much more competitive. Feel free to list your all’s ideas on balancing Viking, because you all are much more creative and better at balancing suggestions, mine are just a starting point.

Try the ax on a scout, I think it will be a decent hit and run weapon.

Give me 20 games on Viking and I’ll tell you how to make it better. It’s a pity that I can’t choose it. Fuck.

It is so satisfying to hit a scout over the head with the axe! Just last game a Recon and Dutch were the last 2 members of ft alive and went for reinforcements. Recon was faster and got to reinforcements first. As the Recon was interacting with reinforcements I bonked him over the head, downing him and I quick claimed before Dutch arrived. When Dutch got there he also went for reinforcements, and as he was also interacting I bonked him over the head too, and it also downed him. One long claim later, that finished one of my most hilarious rounds as Viking so far!

I’ve yet to win as a Viking, only 3 games and only one serious though. I haven’t even seen a win with one. It’s so weird for me especially going from a run and gun style to a walk and smash…walk…is there anything slower than a walk? It would apply

Well, well, let me try to guess and you tell me so or not.

The Viking is described as a predator who seeks to show his strength, but not cunning, which is expressed in a small number of points for equipment and low movement speed.

Ok, I see a few options to make it more interesting.

  1. Make the Viking gain speed while running in a straight line, inflicting FT damage on impact. This would allow him to leave his stats intact and make him a real mad Charger.

  2. Add stamina to him. The Vikings in pop culture are not just strong, they are also very hardy, and our alien is drawn to a fat asthmatic. This is not the case, I would give him MAXIMUM stamina and health, leaving the same speed and equipment, this would lead to the fact that we have a fighter who wants to impose very long exchanges in which he can chase FT and inflict heavy blows with an ax and he will have stamina to retreat in case of severe damage.

  3. The most interesting, as it seems to me, way to make a Viking is not so much stronger as more interesting. His slam attack knocks the FT to the ground and causes the scope to shake when raised for a few seconds, his melee damage is increased for the club and ax. The stats remain the same, we now have the concept of a true berserker. His path is all or nothing, when he breaks into your squad his part will be 100% isolated and subject to instant execution if you take a bad position against this guy, but if he is mistaken, you will send him on a second wind in a matter of seconds.

When I play for him, I can say more.

I like option 2 and option 3 the most. A combination of those and improved melee tracking on the Battle Axe would likely make him very good and competitive. Option 1 seems like a cool ability that the predator could use, like a shoulder charge or shoulder bash.
