Watching the movies in a different light ..

Now I’ll watch the movies imagining the pred dealing with LOW POWER and when he gets OHKO’d I’ll be more understanding since I now know they got a shit health pool for their line of work.

The chittering while cloaked is actually a give away in ALL the movies and pred is never really stealthy in a traditional way. He’s more of a brute who simply appears out of no where, sort of like Jason, but with way more panache.

Predator has become to embody the Noble Savage archetype. Kind of like Warcraft orcs with their psudo samurai crap. I love it but they are a strange lot to be fucking about they way they do. Realistically, they’d go extinct! Right?

It kinda puts it into perspective, that the Yuatja turn the hunt into a game. They probably use gear that is deliberately flawed. If they can do this on hunts where they are nerfed deliberately, imagine what they could do if they had a more human drive to progress and refine things. I think preds lack this in their culture and this is why they seem like space orcs sometimes.

They’re an uplifted ex-slave race, there’s likely limits on how much they can refine their technology. Or they made captives of their captors who are modifying it for them - from the movies we know its all pretty straightforward tech and humans are capable of figuring it out unless its something linked like the biomask. Either way they’re very much a bunch of arrogant brutes killing for fun, the noble savage thing doesn’t work when you’re spree killing for entertainment. Essentially just came upon a bunch of technology and have no idea what to do with it other than kill stuff. I would consider avp preds noble savages, they had very clear goals and humans were just neccessary cattle to some cultural degree. Within the predator franchise though they’re just typical slashers that want to shoot people in the back & throw the main character across the room for 20 mins and then blow themselves up in an extremely salty self destruct when they lose. Even the one’s that come to earth to “help” (fugitive from that really shit movie) immediately start skinning people as soon as they’ve landed. People act like they’re full blown mandalorians or klingons just because they’re not particular interested in slaughtering random civilians but I digress.

We don’t know what their numbers look like population-wise but we know they live a ridiculously long time so getting yourself killed being an arrogant idiot might be the national passtime.
