I just want to first put out there that I recognize that any work at all done in the development of video games is good for not only the game but for the benefit of the gamers as well. I also am aware that moving forward whether it be slow or speedy is also good for the development.
With that being said, everyone here praising illfonic with what they’ve given us post launch (I think they delivered the formula and idea of the game at launch how they wanted) is just fueling their desire to be ever so more “careful” and slower with the game and in turn hurting the core play of the game for everyone in the long run.
Everyone who has been with us since day one or even before on the beta knows that the game has been suffering greatly with the bugs and crashes and the lack of content and promised features at launch which the latter has taken an extreme amount of time to implement into the game e.g the crossplay invite feature, which is a far cry away from other crossplay features in the industry standard today.
Now, there is absolutely nothing wrong with supporting a studio of your choice or desire especially with a game you probably really do love!
But since day one all this feels like you guys are rewarding illfonic with a participating trophy for just entering the game and being in last place. Which I do feel in turn makes them feel like they actually are doing more than what they’re actually giving us.
I want to point out that I love this game too, really do! And have been trying to support the devs throughout the last year. Though it’s become increasingly harder to trust illfonic with the proper direction and aim they want to point the game towards. I’m also not saying that they aren’t trying at all here, because I know they are doing what THEY feel they should be doing, but they ultimately need to try harder. Push themselves in other terms. They notoriously have a track record in the development of all their past games that they never just worked. F13 was definitely a bit of bad luck but they couldn’t deliver with that one either.
Illfonic needs to learn from their history and improve each time but they have proven that not be the case. I want this game to succeed just as much as anyone here but don’t give the team praise for after more than a month giving us nothing but skins and tints with no real patching or bug fixes or performance optimization.
One final point too. I’m in no way shape or form just straight up bashing illfonic, they’ve given us a game that probably never would of existed or was a very far, far away idea in other means so for that I am eternally grateful for it.
