What am I missing?

Played a bunch as fireteam, only a couple as predator. Fairly new player.

Noticing that, especially late at night east coast, predators are demolishing fireteams inside like 3 minutes total match time.

So my questions:

  1. when I’ve been predator I’ve def been gunned down quickly trying to just drop down in the middle of the fireteam and melee then execute them as has been done to my fireteam multiple teams. How? Just Viking class and impenetrable or is there something mechanical?
  2. how are the predators finding us that fast? As predator I’ve been in Central bumfrack and actually had one fireteam blitz missions and escape before I really got to engage them much.

Is there a video series or something? I’m pretty decent at fps and I feel like I’m missing something glaring mechanically.

There’s a lot to explain. I’ll keep it short

Never bumrush a FT with melee. You will die. Always. Unless they actually can’t aim, then you might get away with it. If you catch them with their pants down, you can spin-to-win and claim. But, it’s best not to swing swing swing until you’re SW. If you got melee rushed and died, either they used the axe and one-shot y’all or you fucked up. FT is idiot-proof, only thing preventing the idiot-proofing right now is axe.

Don’t run impen on the tanky classes, very redundant. You’d be better off running Ironside since it gives a larger buff, just requires positioning. Costs fewer perk points as well

They’re finding you by using audio queues, tracking by target isolation, footsteps, and if you’re not mudded, marking. I usually find the team in less than a minute, you just learn to track without target iso when you learn spawns and commonly travelled paths.

If you have any more questions, don’t be afraid to ask

To add to what xeno said, the pred always spawns opposite of the map from the FT. If you played long enough you learn to memorize the spawn locations and the fastest route to get there. If using a scout with long jump and adrenal for example and depending on the map you can get to the FT before they even land.
