What are your guys thoughts on the Field Medic specialization?

Personally, I don’t like it at all and I think it’s too much of a crutch for a good fireteam. I don’t like plasma spammers but when I play predator going against a try-hard squad with 3 field medics and an assault with unleashed it’s just unnecessarily frustrating especially if they get a fast mission. I would like to see some actual tweaks to this specialization or just have it replaced with something else honestly.

Why?

How is “spamming plasma” equivalent to field medic if the person doing so has to manage energy or it overloads? Not that uncharged shots are good anyways.

Honestly best comparison to “plasma spamming” I’ve found is camping. It’s just cheesy and sucks the fun out of the game.
I’m not talking effective use of the PC. Just spray and pray from 100m away plasma blasting

Charged shots do too much damage imo and the splash damage is annoying.

You have an assault rifle…

A fully automatic assault rifle…

But the Predator spamming Plasma caster is a problem…

Because he has too high of a rate of fire.

Your complaining about his rate of fire being cheesy and annoying…

What?!?!

So does the FT’s…

Everything.

How is it annoying? It’s literally AOE damage that’s in every single video game ever made.

Not to mention FT has the plasma prototype

One FM is fine, two is unneeded especially when two they’re two supports as they give each other a 20% damage reduction.

While they did nerf the amount of health they give to downed teammates the problem was and still is the amount of time required to to pick someone up especially with dexterous.

What I personally hate is when it’s a group of 3 or 4 support FM that camp inside somewhere with the sole intention of dragging the match out while one guy sneaks off to either reinforce everyone or complete the objective.

As for plasma spamming, that is by far one of the easiest things to counter if you’re with a good team. When they’re consistently giving away their position with uncharged shots, have the other 3 focus fire on the pred.

FT’s charged shots do too much damage what?

Because it rewards you for missing your target and you do a hell a lot of damage for just an aoe damage attack.

I’m usually stuck with just me and one other guy the other two are randoms 90% of the time so ya I see what you mean.

He means the FT damage output is very high and unlike a pred it doesn’t exactly give away their position especially if they’re using a SAW-Z50z

You also have to sacrifice a lot of energy for it as well as giving away your position and leaving you immobile for the duration.

No…you’re not actually reading what I’m saying.

Sitting at range aiming and taking shots at FT while moving for position and advantage is sound strategy.

Sitting at the very edge of the camp endlessly firing plasma trying your best to recreate the scene from the original predator movie where he blindly fires plasma trying to hit Dutch is just stupid.

This is the difference. Much like creating space by using a building is a good tactic, but parking your ass in there camping is cheap and stupid

I don’t consider that cheap I just consider it stupid.

Meh…cheesy rather than cheap

FT has too much damage in general. That should of been obvious

No you still do reduced damage than a direct hit. may be better than outright missing but it’s still a worse scenario. Not to mention FT has hitscan Pred has projectile. So AOE is a fair trade off. And it’s not like he can out DPS you.

Keep in mind he either gets a couple of shots or he can’t be cloaked which means that the rest of your FT can light him up easily.

Thanks for clarifying. Fair points. I wish now I didn’t mention plasma spamming as that’s all this thread will devolve to now.

It’s all good hopefully people will read what’s already’s been written and not bother if they do though point them up.

Either push him and apply pressure or use cover. You can also use snipers too.

And if he backs off then congratulations you just gave your team an opportunity to do OBJ with little pressure. If he doesn’t then you can shoot him.

Fair enough. As the other clarified as well, you and him make good points I will retract that statement. Now, to the main topic at hand what are your thoughts on Field Medic?
