Good day all,
I notice that very little that was put out in the BETA over a month ago now has been added or used to make the game a better experience. I do not know if this is because Illfonic wanted to see what it would be like for console users or what but the fact is this game in it’s current state will not last very long.
There were many tens of threads in the BETA discussing and pointing out the fire-teams are overpowered, the predator is weak, and many other issues that just seem to have been shrugged off by Illfonic for some reason that escaped me. Why is this game insanely against lore? Let’s put together a list of sorts of some outstanding issues from over a month ago that exist today.
1 - How can a predator not kill a human in two or three hits? A predator player should not have to melee someone 6-10 times to down them. A predator is a 7+ foot behemoth made of pure for killing muscles. Humans are a joke to them. Arnie could barely hold his own against one, and Glover had an even harder time with one missing an arm.
2 - On the subject of downing humans how can a predator rip a humans spine+head out but that person is allowed back into play? I get you want people to have fun but where’s the suspense if you can just get back into play like Call of Battlefield. If you die you stay dead. The person playing the predator is rewarded for killing a player by having to kill that player again? That makes no sense.
3 - Part of the whole Predator world mythos is apprehension/suspense and that is severely lacking in this game. There is no reason for the fire-teams to split up or to take the NPC enemies as a serious threat. How about put the maps together, travel the map for missions, and remove the timer for starters so you can have a real match. Also allow for the predator to know what hotspots there are so the predator can be proactive and not reactive to the fire-team leading to my next point.
4 - The predator is always playing catch up to the fire-team. Not only is it easy for the fire-team to hear, spot, shoot, and kill the predator but they also have the added benefit of knowing the predator has to come to them. The predator has no way of anticipating the fire-teams movements right now and that needs to be addressed in a major way a la killing an npc head honcho etc.
5 - The predator is stil too loud, and visually noticeable. Accept the fact the predator is a silent hunter when cloaked and hard to see at more than 15ish ft while moving or still.
6 - Which brings me back to instilling a sense of apprehension in the fire-team. Keep it where all four can maybe bring a predator down, but put in split the party moments. This should be a horror/survival game not an action hunt the predator game. The groundwork is done, but now you have to implement it.
7 - There is no reason players to come in with the heavy armor set, with sniper rifles, and the minigun that people got on preorder which is asinine. Limit what people can bring in. This is supposedly a special forces group moving smooth and silent when able, why are they carrying enough kit that a regular grunt would scoff at. 100+ lbs. of kit is ridiculous for an operator.
8 - Change unlocks for fire-team to a point buy system. So suppressors are more accessible as is other equipment. The fire-team should be doing their best to not make a lot of noise, but that simply has no real impact on the game space right now.
9 - Make it where suppressors and similar equipment degrades or some similar system so that way players are forced to play more tactically rather than always run and gun to add another layer of suspense. REMEMBER the predator wanted to kill Dutch and friends because they were worthy not the trash they killed.
10 - Predators hunt the hunter. Unless the player is horrendous and predator player should never have to worry about a fire-team tracking them across the map and killing them. This has happened in many of my games & have been instigated by me because as it stands there is no repercussion for doing so. It is a guaranteed victory in most cases to utilize this strategy as the predator cannot handle, nor break contact long enough to recover let alone go unseen.
EDIT 11 - NERF fire-teams melee, holy cow that is op as all. Literally a guy in heavy army just doing that brought down a Predator.
EDIT 12 - Humans should have way less perks to utilize.
For those reading this please realize that this was a fair bit of what was being said a month ago during the beta trial. This is all opinion and I would posit that a fair bit of what is typed here would greatly benefit the game. This should be the fire-team stuck with the predator, not the predator stuck with the fire-team. Any contributions or discourse is welcome.
