What is the purpose of leveling up?

My question is why are we not rewarded with more health and carrying capacity when we get into the higher levels. I hold the same amount of hp and gear as someone who just started playing. I don’t see where this is even right. I think those who worked for the high level should be rewarded for that work and harder to kill at the higher levels.

I understand you wanting that extra feeling of ‘progression’ (beyond the existing equipment, class & perk unlocks).

But perhaps give a moment to think about how disastrous that could be for matchmaking and balance across levels.

It should be that those who put in the time reap the rewards of doing so. The way it is now there is really no incentive beyond unlocking more character types and weapon selections. There has to be a true reward for putting in the time to level up.

I unfortunately don’t agree with you.

There is already a large skill gap issue in this game, and that would be made worse by giving bonuses to ‘people who play more’. Making the strong, stronger - and the weak, weaker.

Every game is going to have a very large ‘casual’ player base. People who have full time jobs, families, commitments that prevent them from playing as much as others.

People should not be rewarded with advantages above other players for simply having more ‘free time’ than other players. I don’t think this is what the devs had in mind, and I would be surprised if there were many people that wanted such a distinction between the ‘elite’ and the ‘regular player’.

The “higher tier” players, already dominate games, as either coordinated FTs or Predator. We don’t need to make this worse.

I usually try to find merit in most of the ideas, I just can’t see anything positive coming out of this. For every 1 person that enjoys ‘being more powerful’, you are going to have 10+ that are going to resent being weaker simply because they ‘have lives’.

That is a piss poor excuse, sorry. I work and have children and do other things and I still made it to level 150. Maybe not right away but it took time in-between all the other things going on in my life. Having a life as you say doesn’t mean that those who actually put in a little extra effort should be punished for those who just wanna pop in from time to time and act like they can play with those of us who actually take time to level up. To me what your saying is a cop out. Sorry but it is true…

and there it is. A quote of entitlement and ‘elite-ism’.

How DARE they think they should be allowed to play with the likes of you. They are beneath you. Simple scum and plebs. Not worth your attention.
You should be allowed to dominate and squash the pathetic insects at every opportunity.

I’ve made my point, you’ve made yours.

I’m interested to see what everyone else thinks. Maybe I’m wrong. :)

To unlock both Predator & Fire Team classes, loadout slots, weapons, shaders, gear and perks.

When you’re lower levels, you’re like I need more loadout slots or next level I unlock Betserker Predator — Yaaas 🤠

But after you’ve reached max and have everything it’s easy to forget that you grinded to lvl 150 and you’ve reaped all the rewards for leveling up.

I’m sure they’re going to raise level cap to 200 in a month or two and offer more goodies as incentives for leveling.

I though that is how the Predators actually thought and only those true warriors were the ones able to best them. I guess this is more of a everybody wins game and not true to the movies at all…

Yes beating on lower level players feels good sometimes and it makes beating higher level players “who actually put in the time to be at the same level or higher” feel even better because you know they worked for their victory over you if they best you. The way it is now any newbie can just pop in and take you out with the right YouTube strategy. Video warriors I call them. No real game skills, they are just good at copying the techniques they learned from videos they watch. It is fine though I change up my strategies when I run into those people. I seen all the videos as well and know when a FT is using prescripted attack patterns.

Theres an argument to both sides, but put simply, that only works in pve games, not so much pvp games.

I mean I agree with him, in a sense, leveling up should feel more rewarding. Remember my perks after lv 100 idea to make older preds feel stronger?

There shouldn’t be outside buffs to stuff like stats just because you’re at a high level. You don’t spawn in as a Juggernaut in COD because you’re Prestige Level 1001.

Not interested in this, the way things are unlocked now already creates a small divide. New players will struggle more as we increase the level cap and add more unlocks.

I like having things too unlock and builds to play with too, but the way this is presented is distasteful.

How is the progression system “distasteful” as you so put it?

Almost every game has level based upgrades and incentives just as PHG does. New players have to level-up and unlock gear, weapons, classes just like everyone else — they don’t get some free pass because they’re late comers to the game.

A new player learns and gets better the more they play, the more they figure things out and are rewarded with items as they as they also level-up.

The idea of getting more gear points and HP as you get ‘level up’, to be able to ‘stomp noobs’ is distasteful.

The progression system currently isn’t that bad. It doesn’t create to large a gap, the way the OP (original post) presented wanting more advantages was distasteful, not the current progression system.

Lol its not an MMO OP when was the last time you played a shooter where playing for 1000 hours gave you a ridiculous stat advantage over everyone else? That concept doesn’t even work in MMOs anymore because it kills the playerbase making people put a year into the game playing catchup & being trash till then to compete with people who’ve been playing the game forever.

The current skill gap is fine no reason to artifically increase it just because you put excessive hours in and others don’t. You should be able to get melted by a level 50 or level 150 all the same.

That’s one of the top dumbest suggestions i’ve read on this forum. Making already more experienced players even stronger by default to just stomp over newer players that need to learn and practice the game?

No.

I say this because there is no incentive to keep playing to higher levels if you can come in at the ground level and play right along side those who have worked to get their accounts to level 150. That is the problem with this world as a whole. Everybody wants everyone treated equally. Try that in the business world, you know the real world and see how that mentality does for you. We should be rewarded for the work we put in and new guns or skins is BS plain and simple. Make the new players work to be the best not start off fighting at the same abilities of those who actually play the game to get better at it. All of you who say this is a bad idea never played any Soul games apparently, they are brutal and only when you get the higher hp and and better weapons can you actually take on the tougher opponents. PvP mindsets are garbage and for this new group of millennials that don’t know what is it to have to work hard to win.

I bet your all in your late teens or twenty somethings.
Current PvP gaming mindsets in a 1 vs 4 doesn’t always pan out too well. That is why so many are calling for a single player mode. This is because we are tired of playing against people who think just because they watch a few YouTube videos and learn how to pick the best weapons or set the right stats that they are better then those who put in the time and effort to max our their level. Like I said there is no real incentive to even push to level 150 beyond just getting a few more weapons and some pretty much useless stat boost. The Predators are way nerfed and the FT is way too OP. This game is not balanced at all when it comes to the real Predator universe. Dutch had to use a damn tree trunk to even stop the Jungle Hunter, damn the 2nd Predator had his arm chopped off and was still highly dangerous. It took his own weapon to finally best him. The way this game is now is a slap in the face to the Predators. Those who support this even playing field crap should be ashamed to even think of themselves as Predator fans.

New players won’t just do well because they watch some yt videos. Putting more time into a game will always award you with a deeper knowledge of the mechanics and higher skill overall. If you need additional healthpoints or dmg boost granted to you ontop of that to feel a sense of pride and accomplishment… I’m afraid your playing the absolute wrong kind of game genre
