What shows are you watching?
I jsut caught and here are my thoughts:
Peaky Blinders: pretty good show/ historical insights/ gang stuff
Welcome to Derry: extension of IT but wildly stemming off of network tv casting and writing…not going to lie there are too much Stranger things type of casting in this show than anything but the show is kind of interesting.
Sinners: Pretty interesting film about vampires until you get halfway because it becomes a gay musical in the end.
The Great Flood: film is devine and freaking brilliant. Kind of like a mix between Interstellar and some Tenet.
Species franchise: I think this franchise is overlooked and should be revisited, revised, remastered because there are some real value placed in the storytelling.
To say the least, the first movies introduction is a shitty crap shoot that uses some blokes stock video in a 3 minute uncut scene with the stars and galaxies and such. One could reinvision it as a fan re-invisioned intro. I want to see that and in 4k.
Stranger Things season 5: AVoid at all costs as the cast have gotten older yet their roles all have cringy hair styles. Everyone is TOO Old for this game yet here they are not to mention the show should have folded at season4 . Stop at episode 1.
Snow Peircer TV Show: its based on a graphic novel which i bought and read 2 volumes of. I also caught the film version. The tv show is pretty good and well worth watching. No cringing moments and fundamentally worth finishing until the end.
Dracula: A Love Tale :
Its a pretty decent modern retelling of the book, but it is also a holistic version of the Francis Ford Coppola film. Meaning that it is worth looking at if you desire a film that is comparable to the 90s film’s visuals and design with much less fantasy aspect to it. It hits it out of the ballpark with that. This film makes an attempt to add an extra portion (if you can call it that). It is definitely a holistic vision that is NOT A REMAKE and NOT A REINVENTION …it is a REBUFF…i would say to the 90s film. The older films from the black and white era or the 70s stuff can’t be connect because they made their film of Dracula antiquated. This is desirable to an effect that it should be seen over and over again. This film looked like it cost alot to make. Beautifully crafted!
And the wierd things is (which is visually told but over looked) is that Dracula actually accidentally murdered his own wife which is the most tragic part of the story(but not the focal point of the film). It is actually not even mentioned much but visually communicated in the film. I am thankful for a version of this film! very much!
Christoph Waltz is not Van Helsing but he plays a comparable part.
