Whats Hot today for collectables?

What are ppl collecting today?
Do you have any major collectors crush on something?
Are comicbook still in?
Is art still in?

Are boardgames in? Is it something ppl like to collect rather than use?
I got this unsatiatable thirst to collect stuff but its not the 90s anymore and nothing is fresh!

Neca TMNT is the hottest by far

All that stuff is in more now than ever

Maybe comics isn’t so hot anymore

I collect

Comic books - usual marvel/DC stuff but my favorite is horror and other obscure stuff

Action Figures - mainly neca and marvel legends

Blu rays - mainly ‘classics’ from my childhood

I have a huge thing for nostalgia

Rocks. Rock collections are all the rage now a days.

Hiya toys is kicking ass with their 1:18 scale predators. Robocop and ED-209 look amazing too. New Masters of the universe origins as well. That really takes me back…

depends on the comic. Spawn is seeing a real uptick in interest and the Immortal Hulk is well worth the time. Star Wars and Darth Vader are doing very well too. Its like the people writing those like their jobs.

whats your interest? Games? Figures? Cards? Comics?

I don’t know what other people collect, I’m all over the place with it myself. Mostly I collect books though, whatever my current interest is, I consume all the media related to it.
Then there’s magic (as in stage) history and mechanics, I have a modest collection of books on the subject. Pulp novels and comics are part of my library but my comics aren’t a serious collection, more highlights of what I like.

My longest running collection of objects is Pranks. I don’t particularly like pulling them but find them strangely fascinating to think about. Then there’s a bunch of escape artist stuff, chains, manacles, mailbags. All tied into my interest in stage magic. Not a magician to be clear and I don’t practice but I am knowledgeable about it in my own way. I like to know how things work.

Batman and his villains specifically Joker themed things. Each have there own place opposite each other, with some Riddler stuff to.
Aliens has filled its own section of the library between when I was playing Alien: Isolation and waiting for Predator stuff to be delivered.

Horror movies and a few figurines make up the rest of what I collect or at least the sections large enough to have there own category.

Like I said it’s kinda all over the place. I even have a full sized arcade crane game in my living room, filled with stuffed animals for my Fiancé. I’d collect more if space and money, were no problem.

Edit - Collect whatever makes you happy man, that’s what I do. I love horror, asymmetrical game’s and the things connected to them. If I’m curious about something I learn about it and add it to the collection. One day I hope to have a ‘Cabinet of Curiosity’, a room of my interests.

Is this the nerd thread?

  1. Godzilla King of the Monsters. Everything related to this movie was great and this is the best Godzilla movie in anything ever & only hipsters disagree. I have a feeling Godzilla vs Kong will ruin it entirely.

  2. Don’t judge but I picked up every single Bayformers liscenced game released. I like the realistic junk heap designs and everyone else hates them but you can’t tell me the opening sequence of first movie wasnt amazing. Transformers 1 was almost perfect compared to the later shitshow.

  3. Also wanted to catch up on Venom comics, taking recommendations. Anti-heroes and aliens are the best mix.

I have chibi gundams (they’re fun and easier to put together) & Predator bobble heads because they’re cute. Not fucking funko pops, I repeat, not funko pops. Funkos are a blight and a menace.

Brilliant thieving tactic. I’ve only won the crane game once, they seem pretty rigged. Does she win or did she run out of quarters first?

It’s a play till you win model, it doesn’t try and screw you. It looks like an arcade cabinet, has 3 plexiglass half walls and says Acme on top.

I got it for a 100 bucks, spent 50 getting it home and got like 78 bucks out of it when I opened it up the first time.

PS. I have one Funko Pop, it’s the Neighbour from the game Hello Neighbour. He has an ax, a rope and a mean looking sweater vest. I couldn’t resist, me and my son play those games together.

I just bought on Ebay a playboy art book from the 60’s that was in Hugh Hefner’s personal library at the playboy mansion. So I like collecting books. I have quite the library on Buddhist studies and an old collection of vintage playboy magazines. LOL kinda conflicting interests but that’s what makes us human right ?

I just bought my first Predator action figure in 20 years, Alpha Pred! Would like to get into collecting pred. figures now.

I’ve been considering building a diorama and getting few select figures to populate it. I’m hoping NECA will release customizable figures for this game, a way too let us have our FT or Pred’s. In roughly the cools and appearance, not expecting anything more than they’re known for quality wise. If the Friday lawsuit is final settled then I might do a Jason one.
I’m very ADD and while I have a real interest it might get subsumed by another interest. I have been thinking about how cool it would be to built a little piece of jungle and get figures in the mail to place in it.

Buddhism is interesting reading. I lean toward Stoicism myself, found it more relatable to my real circumstance and necessity. My personal philosophy is rather piecemeal though. Little bits from everywhere.

Without being creepy, this is my actual desk:

The latest generation of Transformers is amazing. The cheap models are basically scaled down versions of the Masterpiece models (wildly simplified, but also a fraction of the cost) and the current commander class Siege transformers (Jetfire and Sky Lynx) are two of my favorite figures ever.

And this is a mere fraction of my actual collection: I’ll rotate them through, but right now, I’m rocking most of my modern favs.

I find Buddhism eerily similar to many Stoic philosophies from ancient Greece, there was probably an overlap. Many Stoics also believed in the transmigration of souls and for the potential for humans to achieve an indomitable will and mental capacity for inner peace. Although it is my personal belief that the source of Wisdom is universal and thus it is not surprising to find similarities of beliefs despite cross-cultural influences.

Let me share Socrates dedication to the path of Virtue despite being sentenced to death for questioning his fellow Athenians.

"Still I have a favor to ask of them. When my sons are grown up, I would ask you, O my friends, to punish them; and I would have you trouble them, as I have troubled you, if they seem to care about riches, or anything, more than about virtue; or if they pretend to be something when they are really nothing, - then reprove them, as I have reproved you, for not caring about that for which they ought to care, and thinking that they are something when they are really nothing. And if you do this, I and my sons will have received justice at your hands.

The hour of departure has arrived, and we go our ways - I to die, and you to live. Which is better God only knows."
