What's the worst game crash you ever had?

For me, it has to be when I was a kid and The Legend of Zelda froze on me and when I removed it and cleaned it, the save files got deleted. That sucked. And because I was so much younger, I wasn’t very good at games yet, so it seemed to take me forever to get back to where I was.

Then there’s Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare. The finest dlc I’ve ever played. I loved it so much. But in a first gor me, an actual game breaking bug manifested itself after an update. It removes the heads and some limbs of the zombies and you cannot save the game. Ever. You can persist in this nonsense for some time, but not only can you never save, it effects every save slot you have. Any seperate save file is fubar from here on out. I tried deleting the app and reinstalling, deleting all of the updates, deleting all my save data, buying a new disc, downloading it directly to my ps3, nothing worked. It’s game-wide. There is no escaping it. I cannot play RDR UN ever again. And Rockstar basically told the entire community to piss off because they had moved on to GTA 12 or something. No reeeefunds, no nothing. Just, 🎵"we have all your fucking money!!!"🎵 I think that MAY tie with the Legend of Zelda. But because gaming back then was much more difficult with no internet or tech support and gaming time was so very precious, and because there were fewer great games to play, I think Zelda stung more, but just a bit

However, just 2 nights ago, I was enjoying Maneater and I was at level 7, probably about 3-4 hrs in. I was having a ball…UNTIL… the game freezes and I can’t get back to the Playstation home screen. I’m just about to kill the power and restart the console, when the error message finally shows up. That same c-3p048768 thingy I always get. But, in a twist of fate, the console says something is wrong with my storage device. I have to remove it, re-insert it and repair it. So I do. Then it tells me I can’t play Maneater. I have to delete the app, the save data and reinstall that too and start over. We, I sure as shit ain’t doing that, just for it to happen again 15 hrs in! It’s a rental, so I can just send it back. But , dang, that pissed me off. If that had been Doom Eternal or Red Dead 2, I may have rage-pooped myself. Fortunately, I have a library of great games and far more patience than I did in the 80s. Still stinks though. I was having fun…

I can’t imagine making memories of game crashes, but one time back in '97 I thought I beat FF7 when bizzaro started sinking. Then the music changed and everything got pink and sephiroth turned into a bird and my whole party turned into confused frogs and killed each other after dude told a meteor to destroy the milky way and hit me directly in the face.

I miss undead nightmare 😖.

I remember that I had almost 100% in streets of Newyork, then it corrupted.

Pirates of the Carribean on classic xbox was a bug breeding ground! It was a very fun game, when it worked. It was based in the world of the movies, but you played your own character. Lots of places to explore, etc, but you’d be in the middle of fighting 3 skeletons in a cave while searching for treasure and BAM! Crashes, right when you’re about to win and get the treasure. It’s a shame someone can’t remaster that game and clean it up. But, with AC 4 being so good, there’s almost no reason to now.
