Whats up with Pred spotting while cloaked?

I have had this happen to me a few times, and I will explain. First some background, I am currently level 97, have been playing since release, and mainly use predator. So, this does not happen every game, but it is often. i would say maybe 40% of the time. I will play as pred, and be cloaked in a tree or something. Its my understanding that when cloaked and not moving, you are completely invisible to the fireteam. With that said, the problem persists where I get spotted while in this state. And I know that they couldve made a guess, and tracked me from previous movements. But this happens when I havent even let them know Im near them. Multiples times a game might I add, its like they can see me. Im not sure how this happens, and it is a confusing and frustrating thing. Any input is appreciated.

You go click click and don’t move so I spot you.

My main build as commando is ranger, with a sniper, and I stay away from my team while being constantly mudded and I just follow the predator and reveal his position to my teammates to put pressure on him. So for exemple I see you running away and know where you are even if you go full invi

If other people play like me, it may explains how you get reveal in those situations

I play as a FT Sniper/Spotter. Let me tell you something. I keep my eye to the sky. I look for your ole monkey ass jumping in and out of the trees. On a branch? ill find you the second you move. Just an inch and believe me once i spot you with that 10X you better have your ass moving richie because I will ghost you, gut ya, real quiet, and leave you to bleed. Same thing with the roof tops. Move an inch and ill be tracking you telling my squad all sorts of goodies

I understand both points there. And I get that it will happen sometimes when I am just not moving. It just seems like, when it does happen, it happens the entire game. My most recent one I was shredded to less than a quarter health in seconds, cause I just couldnt get close to them. I would hide in front of their path so they wouldnt see me go there. Get into position, and before I even move, spotted, run away out of sight. circle back, get in position (no one is looking), spotted. Rinse and repeat. My question is how luck can one get when they never see the Pred get into position?

what if there is 0 movement? Thats what I mean, I know there is some crazy spotters out there. But Im getting spotted when they shouldnt even know I am in that exact location.

It takes approximately 2-3 seconds to become fully invisible once you stand still. I’m almost certain that it is 1-2 seconds if you’re crouched. If stealth is the name of the game try to be very observant of the direction FT members are facing while you move around. Leaping from one spot to another while crouched is also significantly quieter and faster than moving across the trees. I almost never climb trees because they’re extremely dangerous with no cover, noisy, and FT members are always watching them.

im on a headset that uses virtual surround sound. I can hear you if i dont see you and like I said if you move even an inch that cloak comes off and maybe i dont shoot at you right away but we already have seen you. If you hear “over there” you are most likely spotted. Get out of the trees and on the ground into bushes and away from direct line of sight. I became lvl 100 with 95% pred, 5% FT. because of this Im a great sniper in that I know a BIG f*cken bag of tricks the pred uses and I can use it against them. In time you will develop a better sense of when the team see’s you trust me. Play some FT and you will see whats up

Do your best to use the foiliage around you to conceal movement. You can also use our voices against us playing our voices to each other loudly to mask your own location. it will confuse us since we cant hear your location when you play the voices we just hear each other talking oddly

Thank you everyone thats all good advice. I just wanted to make sure I wasnt losing it lol. Or people were hacking already.

What none of these amazing fireteam members don’t tell you, (and u would know this yourself if you played fireteam more) Is they abuse and spam the shit out of the spot mechanic the thing has like no cool down it’s like a 2-3 second cool down after like 4 spots in row, so all the hotshot FT members claiming to be great spotters are just spot spammers I know I’ve been playing this game everyday since launch 70% predator and 30% fire team on PC and I know because when I play fire team with my pals we all abuse the spot mechanic and you can easily spot the predator if you know the general direction of where he’s going to be like on a branch or on a building even if he’s standing still you will be spotted so not a 100% your fault buddy just a broken game mechanic and some FT players who got savy to the game mechanics nothing more here, this is one of the reasons why I suggested that the spot mechanic be removed completely or given a long cool down or limited to scout or recon class etc etc many ways to fix it but in it’s current state it’s broken and exploited alot by FT who know what they doing

they should make it so if your completely invisible you cant be spotted imo

Its spot spam and I can’t imagine a reason anybody wouldn’t do it. I don’t find it quite as easy with the default console binds but I imagine PC must have a good bind for it? Anyways, I’ve got headphones and the moment I hear clicking and suspect a location I just spam spot until I hit the jackpot. It works best when the rest of your team does the same. So if you got 4 spot spammers you’re going to be spotted probably most of the time.

we didn’t tell that 'cause we don’t use that

I think the complaint is mostly about those who stand still and still get spotted. Your strategy is valid, its super easy to follow a cloaked Predator. But usually if a Predator is just standing still in the wilderness and hooting and clicking the only way to find them is to spot spam their general direction.

When a Predator is cloaked they can still be seen, much like in the films. They’re just harder to see. So, you’re able to be spotted. The more you’re out in the open or obvious places the more you can get spotted.

No, the predator got buff to be completely invisible if he stand still for some sec. but if you see where he landed and see him crouching to become invisble you can still spot him as usual (you put your crosshair on him and click on “detect”), which is normal since you actually know where he is.

We are the overwatch every team needs…

This. When you are zeroed in, you’re zeroed in… No matter how invisible you think you are, that one guy on the team knows where to put that 50 cal round, even though he cant even see it. It’s magic.

DISCLAIMER:
(By you I do not mean the OP or the person replied to. By you I mean the people in general who are asking/demanding for buffs/nerfs to whichever side they are playing and playing against to make it easier for them to win without putting in the work, and in the process make the game less enjoyable for the people who actually put in the work and increase their skills in the game, predators and fire team members alike.)

I love how people presented spamming of one button as skill. xD
