Where I'm at...

So, been playing the game nonstop since launch and man…it’s such a love hate thing. It has such moments of brilliance marred by poor balancing (top tier fireteams really beat up on top tier Preds), mechanical bugs, glitches, matchmaking issues, lack of content, no progression after 100, etc.

I appreciate all the hard work Illfonic has done, especially during this time. They really captured the look and feel of the films. I really really hope they keep working and trying to balance and refine because this game has the potential to be really amazing.

That being said, Illfonic’s silence has left a bad taste in my mouth. They really aren’t good at communicating with their player base. On the one hand I appreciate wanting to test and work until you can give solid information, but given the state of the game and the clear frustration from the community I think a simple “We hear you, another patch is coming soon. Stay tuned for more info.” would have gone a really long way. Right now it feel like we’re screaming into the void…

So, I’m gonna take a break from the game. Give them time to work on things. I’ll come back at the next patch. But I’ll tell you this, I’m definitely not paying for more content until I see another patch. And I think some good will is due the community. If all we get in the free update is some damn audio tapes I swear…

I’m sure the gears are turning, they are just slowed down by this working from home thing everyone has to do. I’m kinda on the same path as you at the moment. 👍🏻

Perfectly natural to go through cycles of playing through different games. Have fun!

Yea it’s a love-hate kind of relationship at the moment. Once you’re in the zone, the game just keeps you entangled. The Pred hunting you down that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat, the thrill of the hunt with the Pred itself, the cat and mouse game between the Pred and the FT, etc … It’s one of those games I dreamed of and wished it would become a thing back when I was playing AvP2.

But I can’t get over the fact the game was released with a severe lack of content. It feels as if they were trying to be too careful with the game, didn’t want to lose too much money plus credibility on it and just went all or nothing with a beta/demo. Again this is what it feels like to me and I could be totally wrong.

The foundation is there. For the moment it lacks content. Of course balance stuff too but I’m not going to dwell on that 'til I’ve seen the content they’re about to start dishing out first. I just can’t help to think that with a little bit more homework and funding. They could’ve easy figured out there is an undying hunger for decent modern day Predator / Alien games IMO.

The last game I played involving both Preds and humans was AvP 2010. And that game it’s multiplayer left a bad taste in my mouth. It’s single player and survival mode were OK. But not OK enough to make me stay. So here’s hoping this game doesn’t end up the same way. I got a good feeling about it, but I’ll just have to wait and see for the time being.

It’s one of the saddest things because Fox and the Producers that hold the rights keep making half-assed games (not calling this game that. I think they probably pushed Illfonic to release too early) and movies then when they audience isn’t happy they blame the franchise instead of their own poor decision making.
